I've spent about 8 hours playing this and so far I'm having a hard time just getting into playing this game. I have fun taking out outpost and bonfires, but there's no compulsion to keep going like in far cry 3 or 4. And I still have no clue when the story starts. So far I've been attacked once, and gathered all the lost wenja people, and still all the missions they give you are go here, gather/kill this. I'm not saying it's not fun to kill a base with a lion, or shoot a caveman in the eye, it's just not as captivating as previous games.

1 RespuestaThe further I get I to it, it does feel more like a huge DLC/Standalone Expansion than a full game. When I saw the install size was smaller than Lords Of The Fallen, I was a bit concerned. All in all, none of that is a bad thing. The limitations of the Mesolithic era do make the variety of equipment fairly small, but it's not at bad as people make it out to be. Aside from clubs, bows (of various types) and spears, there are slings, throwing "shards" and 21 (IIRC) animals you can tame. Without my silenced sniper rifle, I have to resort to a completely different approach to the Far Cry formula. Though much like most stealth games, I do well with set up but botch the execution. A lot of people have said that Primal is intrinsically harder than the modern FC games, but I'm not finding it overly difficult in the first 10 hours or so. I like the environment and the day/night cycle is a welcome addition. There are a few different zones, but most of the game environment does feel a little samey. Putting the skill trees into a mix with the village building is kind of neat, in that you have trainers rather than just figuring things out. The minimal HUD Is nice too... A lot of people wanted a minimalistic FPS game, though this is a littler further back than WW2. The soundtrack is kind of strange, but I do like it and the sound design inspires me to play with my headphones on. Especially when you're trying to figure out where that jaguar is that's about to sneak up on you. The other human NPCs are interesting but shallow. I'm not sure how well the story is going to play out, but I've always enjoyed open world for the sake of open world (to an extent). Overall I'd give it a solid 7/10 (which is probably 8.5-9.0 on the IGN scale). While I feel it was a worthwhile purchase in the first week, most will probably want to wait until the price drops or rent the game.

Look at it as a FPS open world pokemon

2 RespuestasI didn't even finish Far Cry 3. It was so boring.

1 RespuestaI'd rather have a drink with Bill Cosby than play Far Cry Primal. Melee combat consists of poking something with a sharp stick, or swinging downwards with a wooden club. Want to do something else? Oh, well....we have..... a... bow? Like every other Far Cry game. Sorry, no guns. All you get is a poke stick and a bow. -blam!-ing yawn. Beyond the setting, I don't see any redeeming qualities about the game. It should have been a $20 standalone akin to Blood Dragon, not a $60 full release.

I played for about 4 or 5 hours last night and loved it. Too many games now days are all about guns and explosions and humans being top of the food chain, primal makes the world feel dangerous again. I do wish there were more variety of pets and weapons, but it's still a fun game

2 RespuestasSlightly offtopic, but how are they going about the story on primal?

Sounds like ark with the quarter of content

I've been watching my friend play it for an hour and I'm getting into it. I might buy it lol. Then again my favorite part of fallout was building my settlement and looting things.

I agree the story was lacking but I enjoyed the game overall quite a bit. I didn't play Far Cry 4 so that probably helps with my enjoyment.

3 RespuestasIf you've played 8 hours, that's enough time to know you don't like it. I'm having a blast, though, at about the same time mark.

2 RespuestasI personally am having a blast with it. Exploring everywhere, managing my resources, taking out enemies with stealthy precision, upgrading my village, using weapons that make combat more up close and personal which is more fun imo, taming badass predators, upgrading my arsenal to awesome looking and powerful versions, listening to the awesome language they've created, being on edge at night time since more predators are out and it's pitch black, etc. The list goes on. I'm loving it
