Use what you want. They're bitching because they can't find a tactic to counter it. I've gone against loads of teams who have found a way to counter me and my partner's thorn or icebreaker antics. I've been using Ice Breaker, thorn and vex during crimson doubles. At least they're guns with some character rather than the boring trash of year 2.
