Why "Shindig in the Crucible" is Terrible Game Design

Dear Bungie, I'm so pissed with you Bungie for making this god-aweful quest. The sad thing is I know a bit about how game design works and I'm sure you had some guy come up with this quest and you thought "sure, why not" and threw it in without thinking much of it, but its so very terrible and pretty much just busted as a quest at this point. What I really want to point out is that this quest literally goes against everything that you've tried to build with Destiny. From decision and directions you've taken I can see that you are trying to make a game where your particular play style matters and where all weapons are even, and you just choose what you like best; however this quest doesn't do that at all (And by quest I mean just the first part called that tracks your crucible kills). So, first of all you force all people who want to beat this to equip a certain gun. Now, I know TLW is a strong weapon and people love it, but for whatever reason I hate hand cannons and suck at using them (I'm sure there are more like me). So, in this respect you are forcing me into a play style, specifically a play style I neither find fun, nor am good at. Now, this wouldn't be so bad; I mean its only one part of one quest right? However, that isn't all. Because you don't just make me use the freaking weapon, you say that if I'm not good enough at it, I WILL NEVER COMPLETE THIS QUEST. Why would you do that? How does this positively effect the game. First of all, I don't think any bounty or mission should have a reset on it. You should always be moving forward, because literally no one feels good about moving backwards; no matter who they are. Also, who does this help or make feel good about the game? Yes, its a cool thing for the lore that your skill matters, but think of the two types of players that will play this quest. There is the skilled person who loves TLW, who will see the quest, appreciate the lore; and steam-roll the event without really thinking twice. This guy doesn't care about the negative of losing points on deaths, and doesn't particularly care about them because it doesn't even matter. Now, the other type of person is me. I'm bad at TLW and when I do the quest I feel just awful the whole time. I'm forced into something I suck at, I'm worrying about every death instead of having any fun in the game. You've essentially made it so that I hate the game, I hate whoever made this quest and I wish that I would just die right on the spot overtime I turn on Destiny, making me more likely to just quit playing all together just because I'm not having fun. (Over exaggeration but you get the point, not fun) So, what you've done by punishing players for dying is give hardcore players something they don't care about and casual players something that makes them hate the game, does that sound like something you wanted to do? I wouldn't expect it. Now, to be honest, I'm not as bad as I sound typing this rant. I'm actually a pretty decent player and have done many matches where I streak and go 15 and 1 or 20 and 5 even with TLW equip. So, why am I writing this? I should've beat the quest step by now right? Nope, because you once again made a move in a direction that is exactly opposite of what this quest is doing. You introduced more SBMM (skill based match-making, though I'm sure you've heard of it enough by now to know). And you know I'm not super upset about it typically. I like playing people my skill level or above, its really fine. Except when you give me this bulls***. The idea of SBMM is to have all players k/d hover around 1.0, representing everyone being around the same skill in each match. Well, then what the heck are you doing here Bungie? This quest gives you +1 for a kill and -1 for a death, streaks in either direction push it more so. So, if you are at 1.0 k/d do you every progress in this god-forsaken quest? No. The answer is no. Its so terribly frustrating, because I will have great matches where I streak and murder everyone and go up 20% in the stupid quest and then I will keep getting matches by other people's freaking skill and drop around 20% or more. And it just cycles over and over. I can't f***ing complete this quest. Why would you design your game, in such a way that you are actively fighting your own game design? Why would you try to make players so terribly frustrated for no gain. I don't get it, and to be honest, I'm betting you never thought about how SBMM would effect this particular quest. Now, I write this as a loyal fan. I love the game and I play all the time, but I think you made a mistake here. I think that losing percent on quests and bounties is a 0 gain game for your company and Destiny as a whole. Please, just fix it, or bring back Sparrow Racing so I can cheese the stupid quest like all the other casuals did.
