Can someone explain to me why the Defender class is the weakest in the game?
Title pretty much.
I play the Defender class as my main, and I have noticed that it is considerably weaker than every single class and every single subclass. I prefer playing the tank in game, where I can soak up damage, but looking back at the previous patches, it seems that Defenders seem to get collateral damage every single time, and now they are essentially the weakest link in the game (which is quite ironic).
I understand why people thought the Sunbreakers were broken and the subsequent nerf as a result in the recent patches. However, I don't understand why Defenders were also thrown under the bus when in the previous patch they were also thrown under the bus, and the patch before that as well. Are Defenders so broken that they must be nerfed at every major patch?

Why are nightstalkers so good in pvp? Super shut down? Every 2 minutes if you're an absolute blood bathing beast? Try suppression grenades on a defender every 35 seconds and tell me how week you are. Watch some of my recent clips and see what a bubble and suppression grenades can do if you make good plays. (I'm not a skilled player, very mediocre, but I have moments of awesome like the bubble, grenade drop, and flee from bubble, to blind and suppress an incoming super guardian for easy clean up)

Ever have a defender pop a bubble on the spark with blessing and the whole team dances inside while your team watches helplessly cuz nobody has super...yeah weakest subclass my ass.

Armor of light and a shotgun can shut down every other super easily, or let you fall back while they hammer your shield

Dude. Defender is one of the best pve supers in the game. If you have a decent level Titan with a maxed defender subclass, LFG is a breeze. Hunters shadowshot and defender weapons melt half the raid bosses, challenge mode oryx is pretty much a requirement to have a Titan or two. Save yourself and your team with health, give damage boosts... It's a true support class, it's pretty much perfect. It would be nice if it blinded enemies as a standard, without exotic useage, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. Pvp - a defender can be used well if you know how to play the class correctly, I don't think a buff would break anything, but it doesn't really "need" it. It's a good solid super.

They may be the weakest in pvp, but I'd say I wouldn't want to run any raid without at least one Defender. They have the best pve class. And Defenders have only been changed once to my knowledge.

Editado por DSRT976: 1/28/2016 6:28:03 AMDefenders are fine. But their role in the game a little bit different in comparison to other classes/subclasses. The are support of your team, not frontline warriors. EDIT: Last update Defenders received only buffs, not nerfs. Thank god!

I love Defenders in the Crucible. Run through the bubble and get either an overshield or a weapon's boost (I know the perk names, just saying). When I run Defender myself I focus less on the Ward of Dawn and more on Force Barrier, just my personal preference.

Defender isn't a bad subclass for the most part. It's just that the bubble is very easy to counter with other supers. Hell Landfall by itself can burst a bubble and kill those who dwell within. I would be for buffing Ward of Dawn, but I think that would create other problems.

They've never been nerfed though... the last update strengthened them in all realms. Longer melee range, instant ready on grenade and melee on super cast. They are a support class thiugh, unmatched in usefullness in pve. Sure they aren't amazing in pvp, but they really amplify a teams power when used properly.
