And all the people that don't yet have Thorn (including me, having played for 3 months on XB1 and 9 months on PS4, before year 2)?
While I accept it is available from the "legacy" engrams (although not confirmed) I have yet to get one from a Legacy engram (and I've bought 4 so far and have most of the year 1 primaries).

It comes from legacies. I bought 3 and got 2 thorns and then red death...

Just like the chaperone quest requiring last word? It's ok for things like this to exist to maintain flavor. I say this as someone who always wanted both the last word and chaperone and never got them.

I accept your point, but, The Last Word is available as a Year 2 weapon, Thorn was ONLY available in Year 1. So the only way to get one now is with the Legacy Engrams from Xur. I have purched 3 of these and been rewarded with a Red Death (which I had in Year 1) and 3 Monte Carlo's (which I didn't have in Year one because I'm an XB1 player). My "understanding" of the Legacy Engrams that Xur sells was, they are supposed to weight the item you get based on those which you already have in your Exotic Inventory. Thereby enabling us to obtain all the Year 1 gear, just a bit after the fact...
