I'm not complaining about how bad the weekly update is, but now that bungie made it "official" in the weekly update that skill-based matchmaking is in fact a part of the way players are matched up (we all knew this was the case since ttk came out), I figured I should post something about it. TripleWRECKS's opinion isn't any more important than ours, but I 110% agree with him. SBMM is ruining the experience for me and many others. The sole factor that should belong in matchmaking is connection. Nothing else. I'm not insanely skilled at pvp, and the amount of lag due to the several other factors that go into matchmaking really kills it for me. The fact that the variety of weapons used right now in the crucible has hit an all time low doesn't help our PvP experience also. PvE is dry too, but this topic is about PvP only.
Now, if you are one of those rare people (if any) that support this system, then why don't you ask for ranked league play and/or private matches on the feedback forums? That way if SBMM gets back out of regular crucible, then everyone would be happy.
Edit: SBMM is skill-based matchmaking
Edit 2: 27 Likes on this post already. Ya...the majority of the community hates crucible right now.

1 RespuestaEditado por KurtPanzerNader: 1/22/2016 9:49:12 PMBungie and Activision are multi-billion dollars enterprise. Who the hell is Triplewreck??? A nobody just a gamer live off gaming and streaming like a blood sucking leeches. Making money from Destiny wow go find a real job dude.
-
Not sure what triple wreck said but for regular crucible I can put up with the laggers in exchange for decent teams. Now for competitive stuff; ie: trials and iron banner it shouldn't be skill based match making at all. Why you ask? Because you'll find sweaty matches no matter what there and I'd far rather lose to a good team then some Random team from the phillipines running full red bars against us playing on the east coast. Basically skill based match making has a high probability to remove skill from small team matches because the lag team gets a major advantage .
-
not sure of the mechanics of it but I thought( as far as trials) it was they try and match card win/losses to the same. if that's the case I don't like that. I would be fine if I was 7 and 0 and still went against the same rated "skill" but for some reason I actually get lucky to get that far I don't want to have to play against people that go flawless 90 percent of the time

1 RespuestaBungie is removing negative posts in reference to the Valentine's Day event. Loll Couple of people I know on here got their posts deleted just for expressing their issues with the event, and how it's a obvious front for the Eververse Trading Company to sell players new items for real money. They make millions off these Microtransactions, and they can't even take some of that money to redesign something as simple as the vault. You couldn't fit all that junk they sell in your vault even if you coughed up the cash to buy it. Bungie turned into savages. They locked in a strong fan base, and now they are just using holiday events as an excuse to sell dances to those same loyal players. No need for them to work on or release quality free DLC content anymore. They are making a fortune by just changing the color of the tower every couple of weeks, and having a fresh stock of dance moves for sale. Nice way to treat the people that made you rich.

1 RespuestaEditado por Cowboy: 1/22/2016 8:20:31 PMIm a PvE whore. That said I know im no good in pvp and that is probably why I dont like it as much BUT myself and our raid clan always ALWAYS get matched with people who are way better at it then us. This makes it more unfun. We get destroyed! Talking 10 losses in a row in Trials. I have no issue with people who are awesome at pvp but why are we matched with them? Our grimore score? Gear score? Because it is not pvp score lol. I would play pvp if it was matched better. I definitely do not expect to win more then I loose. I think there match making system sucks for pvp.

13 RespuestasEditado por VisageOfAnAngel: 1/22/2016 5:18:51 PMSkill-based matchmaking can be done just fine. Microsoft employs TrueSkill in many of it's first party games (including every Halo since the 360 launched). The problem is Bungie cannot design a decent system; Halo 2 used their idea of ELO for PvP and the lag in H2 was about as bad as in Destiny. This game would've done a Hell of a lot better if Bungie stayed with Microsoft which was their sole target up until a year prior to release... which was over a year after the initial date. Yup, Bungie got bribed into going multi-platform, held back the release date to account for the quick and lazy PSN ports, and had to throw together ELO for the game since it was multi-platform now. Edit: Sony players are down-voting me, how cute. I'm speaking simple facts, if they stuck with Microsoft as planned Destiny would be using TrueSkill and these issues wouldn't be happening.

Editado por Atlas Enderium: 1/22/2016 9:30:20 PMLol. I am just mad that when I come back after a long break of Destiny (like 3 months), my rusty moves "move me down a rank" and games pair me up with trash players... And then somehow the other team is slightly better. I have come in 1st place in the first games I played since I came back, and I thought I was doing bad. I would get somewhere around 5000 points each round and my teammates would get like 500-1000 max, so we would lose... Rant over?

While I totally emphasize with people that get more laggy connections, and agree connection should be the first consideration before anything else, I can't help but notice a lot people complain about having to play against other good players. Grow a pair. Sure matches are more challenging. It should be more rewarding to win against more challenging opponents. This is how it was in halo, the higher your level the harder your opponents. Now I would be all for private matches, as well as social matches that had no sbmm involved. That could satiate the people that need to feel powerful by crushing 9 year olds borrowing their older siblings destiny account.

I wanna point out something... Given that it wasn't actually implemented until December and people have been complaining about it since TTK launched (operating under the assumption that it was implementated at launch), I don't think SBMM is the issue. After all, Red Bar has been rampant since TTK dropped. Actually, since Launch. Has it gotten worse? Honestly, no. It's just as bad now as it was when TTK launched, so the argument that SBMM is ruining the experience is bunk. What is ruining the experience is the lack of non-Peer-to-Peer matchmaking. This would remove the ability for players to use exploit tools to influence matches and move the connection issue to be local instead of global. Players will good connections would be able to readily eliminate players who have bad connections since it is a local client that is bogged and not the collective server.

1 RespuestaI don't mind SBMM. I'm actually one of those that actually dropped in KD due to it (sitting at a solid 1.0) but due to SBMM i face a lot of last word, mida, sniper users. Honestly: I don't mind the last word. they can be countered in various ways (not many) Mida 'Mighty" multi too can be countered in various ways to. run high armor if your using under-powered weapons such as pules rifles or AR. Its the...wasn't paying attention to you, now under fire, turn around, scope/swipe, one shot you sniper user.... all before I finish my second burst from my rapid fire pules rifle with high caliber rounds....this and the lag, that needs to go. The current gameplay has evolved because of SBMM. example: fusion rifles are making a come back due to always rushing shoulder charging titans. fusions rifles (if you can get a really fast charging one) are somewhat good at countering the last word. more warlock are using ram. twilight garrison is at an all time high and its damn near cheating for titans. I don't play as a hunter, so i'm somewhat unfamiliar with them, but their ability to evade and get lost in combat (loss track of where they are) is ridiculous. There are pros and cons to everything. SBMM is no exception, although i wouldn't mind a more relaxed experience in crucible every now and then. I'm tired of sweating, My GF doesn't like it. LMFAO

Everyone is just running around with thorn in pvp. 3 shot to the legs then run away.

1 RespuestaWasn't latency always an issue with Crucible? SBMM didn't change how people connect to the servers.
-
4 RespuestasHilariously, this is the only game I've ever seen this argument made. Not sure what it speaks more negatively about, the game's netcode or how hopelessly un-competitive the gameplay is.
-
2 RespuestasTo be honest regular crucible is harder than trials. I face much better players in regular crucible and games are fun. In trials usually just role though teams if I'm with my regular trials team.
-
Yea I like sbmm lol and it's not their only tool quit crying when your getting out played
-
SBMM is acceptable as long as connectivity does not suffer. Not liking it because you can't stat pad is not a valid reason and will never be taken seriously. You absolutely should be paired with people your skill level. Stop being little bitches.
talking in general, not specifically you op.
1 RespuestaI can see LFG now: Looking for guys to reverse boost with, need to be able to entertain while killing ourselves and need to be able to consistently kill themselves

16 RespuestasPersonally I think the skilled players are salty because thy aren't wrecking noobs as much and are coming up against more and more similar level skilled players - and getting rekd Then blaming "lag" etc Haha
-
2 RespuestasI'm going to just ignore everything you said and focus on hat weapon part. If anything this is the most variety on crucible ever, Year 1 it was Mainly suro's the next update was last word, thorn and hawkmoon. I have seen many different weapons in crucible lately then i ever have in crucible. The variety of weapons used have hit a all time high.

Destiny lag is a myth, why does everyone complain about it?
