Alcohol also has a negative effect on children and both alchol and videogames are age restricted and require proof of age to buy so if a parent blames a violent game for ruining their child they are a bad parent as either they gave the child the game or they can't control their child

Actual studies published by the APA have shown opposite results from what you are saying. While violent video games have a direct correlation on aggressive tendencies, that is proven to contribute more to confidence rather than actual violent outbursts. Violent video games are also therapeutic and allow for the enhancement of spacial awareness in three dimensions. Not to mention improving fine and gross motor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination. Most importantly, they are fun. The biggest benefit of video games is that they simply help people relax and make them happy. The emotional benefits are impossible to deny.

Video games have proven to be an excellent tool to help develop many skills in children like hand eye coordination and problem solving. What you are saying wouldn't be a problem if parents adhered to the ratings system. The frequency I hear 10yo squeakers in gtav is disgraceful.

Depends on the violence a game that is violent or scary such as Outlast yes it can lead to traumatic effects. Games like Halo with almost no gore,swearing or actual adult violence not so much while Halo is an example it has been shown and proven that shooting games as well as others not only help precognitive function,strategic thinking but also hand to eye co ordination. In children with such things as ADHD they have also been shown to bring down stress,frustration and level out energy levels due to focusing on the game and expending mental energy.

Not a child's fault when you have bad parenting. I grew up playing video games like Doom and Half-Life and I'm socially intact and extremely communicative with the general population. Studies have also shown that children predisposed to violent video games develop a keener sense of rationalization. They understand things better and can comprehend more complex subjects without naïveté. Blaming a Video Game for a child's introverted and/or violent demeanor is ignorant when a child's behavior directly reflects their parents.

I refuse to respond to authority. I hate autistic people and people with related disabilities. I hate people who are enemies of gaming. I hate anything resembling righteousness. I am always angry at everything and everyone (even parents and friends), I am purposefully a jerk to many people, I lie to parents, teachers, etc. to get away with things, I go out of my way to spite people, I rage and yell at everyone, I hate socializing, I would much rather be in my basement beating the living shit out of cod noobs. This is all true, I'm not just trying to be edgy.

You could argue that kids should probably listen to the ESRB labels on the games :P little tykes shouldn't be playing call of duty for six hours a day while their friends are learning how to function as normal people at the park lol. I'd say it's more of user error that leads to the negative side effects
