So when I was thinking about why Destiny 2 (might) be called the Shattered Sun and the first destiny wasn't called anything I was like "oh wait it's Destiny: The Taken King." I then thought of why it was called the Taken King and not something else, was it because all the events that happened led up to Oryx? The it snapped to me and after long thinking I finally figured it out. Please read ahead and it might be long so sorry. All the following events are in order of what happened that led up to you fighting Oryx! [b]Destroying the Shrine[/b] When you destroyed the shrine of Oryx that's when you woke him up. He doesn't see you as a threat because he thinks you are weak. [b]Destroying the Heart in the Black Garden[/b] The Vex was trying to store Oryx inside the Black Garden so it won't destroy the solar system or destroy anybody [spoiler]keep in mind that I think that the Vex are actually the good guys and aren't trying to harm anybody but actually protect us[/spoiler] When you killed all the vex that's when Oryx started taking things, you can see that the statue look like taken after the heart uses the darkness to take the statues. When you killed the statues Oryx was weak at the time and decided to teleport away to get stronger. [b]Killing Atheon[/b] Killing Atheon opened up the Vault of Glass and let in any darkness as much as they want without any resistance.[spoiler]I will explain how this relates to Oryx later in the reading[/spoiler] [b]Killing Crota[/b] When you killed Crota Oryx started to realize how strong you were. And how angry he was that you killed his son. So later after you killed Crota, Oryx starts to gather up his power and control the darkness, growing stronger. [b]Killing Skolas[/b] Back to Vault Of Glass that's when the House of Wolves took over. Now Oryx biggest enemy was the Fallen because the hive mostly fought the Fallen and not the cabal or vex. When the guardians killed Skolas and broke the house of wolves, that's when Oryx took the chance and went in and took many fallen, vex, cabal, and hive from many timelines because there wasn't enough hive today to make an army to kill the guardians and anything else. Oryx took the technology from the fallen to time travel. [b]Oryx taking you[/b] Oryx thought he was strong enough to take you. That's why there were many times you see your screen losing vision because of him trying to take you. But when you finally kill him he decided to take himself and let his full power of the darkness over take him. All these events led up to the raid and why you fight him in the dreadnaught in the raid. I know that there were more mission but that's all I could think of.
