Are there any reliable gaming media sources? IGN, Kotaku, Polygon, etc, are all complete garbage.

You can get a good idea from reading all their reviews, not just one. Yes they are biased in certain cases, but ultimately when you put all the reviews together, you get a good idea about a game, excluding all the bias. That's what I do, no one site or company will give you an honest review.

Just because those sites don't praise destiny at every turn doesn't mean they aren't reliable.
