Just wondering because one of my friends got unbelievably pissed off at me because I wouldn't do the pledge.
Edit: Let me remind the ignorant ones of you:
Yes, soldiers fought for the right, so I'm damn well gonna use it. If I didn't have the right, I would start an Anarchy hence my name.
Also, I just said I don't stand for the pledge, no where did I ever say that I hate the U.S. or anything like that.
And a side note: If the soldiers fought for this right, but everyone was forced to stand, then they fought and died for nothing, therefore you people trying to force it on people are insulting their very own work.

I live in Scotland and here we like to think that "flower of Scotland" is our national anthem. But obviously because we are still part of Britain our anthem is actually "God save the queen". So, is it disrespectful for me not to sing along to God save the queen, when there's a line that goes "to crush the rebellious Scots"? Hell no! Those "rebels" fought for freedom, you're own "rebels" fought for freedom, it's your choice dude, fcuk what anyone else says, stand, don't stand, pledge or don't, sing the anthems or don't. Freedom is a beautiful thing!
-
Personally, I never do the pledge, as I am from Canada, and living in U.S. I simply respectfully stand up, and wait for the others to finish .
-
It's disrespectful to not stand IMO but you don't have to recite it by any neans
-
Not saying you should be forced to but you live in a country, the best one in the world (for now) and showing some respect is good. The good thing about America is that you have that right not to do it, but you should.

No penis poll? Off topic pls.

1 RespuestaEditado por Lord Headass: 12/11/2015 3:29:29 AMPledge of allegiance? No. National Anthem? Yes, everyone should stand out of respect, and we should do the same if another country's anthem is played.
-
In elementary school we had a test to recite the pledge by memory.
i failed

still can't pass it to this day
-
3 RespuestasWhy would you pledge your allegiance to a piece of cloth?
-
It's rude to but one of your rights in this country is freedom to do and think what you believe
-
9 RespuestasUnless you're disabled you have to stand for it to mean anything.
-
31 RespuestasYou deserve to be deported if you don't pledge your allegiance to the flag. This kind of disrespect is what breeds liberalism, communism, socialism, and terrorism.

While I would prefer everyone to stand for the pledge because it isn't a terribly taxing thing to do, it is your right to decide if you want to pledge or not. HOWEVER, don't do the pledge sitting down. If you don't want to stand for just a few words and hold your hand up to your heart, but you're perfectly fine doing it sitting down, just don't. Okay?
-
Why didn't you stand?

Editado por Resurrection101: 12/10/2015 9:38:21 PMPersonally I think freedom of choice is our most powerful and the most meaningful thing we have in America it also defines us as a country and it would not be America without it. Not to mention all the people past and present we have lost in war that fought for that right. Not to respect a person's right of free will and choice. ( no matter how stupid or insulting it maybe) is too insult all those people that fought, our country and the belief it stands for. Edited for my terrible skills in English
-
Of course it's optional. The first amendment isn't negotiable, people.
-
4 RespuestasIt's not a matter of wether or not you agree with the U.S. Or government or anything like that. You stand during the pledge/national anthem to show respect as an American citizen for the rights and freedoms you have. No it is not optional to stand it is mandatory. And whenever I go to another country I stand to show respect its just how it is. Btw I am an anarchist as well but anarchy also requires respect as any true anarchist knows. Otherwise violence would escalate and we would have chaos which is different from anarchy.

Editado por Onxide: 12/10/2015 9:13:40 PMIt's part of our rights. Some may consider it disrespectful, but it is also disrespectful to try and deny someone their basic rights.

You do you man. Did ur friend get mad just because you didn't do it or because you don't believe in it?
-
No it is not at all wrong to refuse to recite the pledge. You alone are morally responsible for what you do. If you find the pledge morally repugnant, don't say it.
-
Everyone should...but they can't make a law since we aren't communist
-
I haven't done the pledge since grade school. The only part I have a problem with is the God in it.
-
I always stand and put my habd over my heart but I dont always recite it outloud...
-
I don't know what disgusts me more the fact you don't stand or the fact that most people are okay with it.
-
Its not wrong if you are a communist and you wish death upon america...
