I’d like to try an experiment in collecting mass responses from public discussion forums. Please go to the link below to fill out a quick survey about your opinions on FPS competitive multiplayer. It’s only three questions, shouldn’t take you more than a minute.

This survey is not specifically about Destiny and will not directly impact Destiny’s development. I’m just seeing what kind of responses we can expect from doing public open surveys like this and incidentally testing a pet theory of mine. Feel free to try to guess the pet theory (after you’ve filled the survey out honestly) or wait until after the survey closes Wednesday, December 9th at noon PST. I’ll edit this post with the summarized results and the theory once I’ve had a chance to analyze the data.
Thanks for helping!

I'm guessing you're wondering if bros like fps games?
-
I think people will be more honest about their physical strength than their FPS ability. It's very hard to lie to yourself about whether or not you can do a push up, but plenty of people seem to lie to themselves about how skilled they are and how skilled someone should be in order to beat them. Especially about how skilled someone should be in order to beat them.
-
4 RespuestasI barely have a positive kdr, but I can crank out 70 push-ups in 1 min. But that might just be from being in the military...
-
Correlation between reflex speed and upper body strength?
-
How would you rate your upper body strength (e.g. ability to do pull-ups, push-ups, etc.) compared to the general population? *
Uh... What? Also, filled it out. Short, simple, and to the point. I like it and am interested to see what this is used for.
-
Done. Hope you get the help you need, though wouldn't expect too much from us. 😀
-
So you want to get into esports? You'll have to retune your aim assist.
-
Surveys are biased towards those who wish to participate!! If you want a more accurate result from the playerbase you should make it mandatory to complete it before signing into the game. I wonder how the forums would complain about this....
-
I'll be right back. Gotta do something first.

Editado por loonigus: 12/8/2015 2:58:26 PMI can lift a potato and eat a whole water melon. Also on payday I can run to the nearest pub faster then Usain Bolt and if my gf calls shes home after a two week business trip Iam even faster then light.

1 RespuestaI would hazard your theory runs along the lines of peoples perception of mental skill and ability in comparison to physical skill and ability and the comparative effort to 'earn; success in either pursuit. People feel that after a few weeks playing the game they should be PVP gods because they know what all the buttons do and have some cool gear. You would never expect to achieve the same results in the physical world and this would imply people feel that videogame skill should be earned faster with a more immediate reward than physical skill.
-
I hit average on questions 1 and 3 but I believe skill should be foremost in a competitive PvP fps.
-
Well that was an interesting poll to say the least. I saw the earlier results and I gotta say it's dissapointing to see how many people consider those things important.
-
So most people rate themselves well above their actual ability in PVP and also most people don't even lift.
-
I thought it cena or a rick rolllll!

2 RespuestasEditado por wrightflyer_1903: 12/8/2015 10:35:51 AMI loved the implication that you are trying to correlate physical fitness with the ability to move two thumb sticks and click a trigger button - sweet! I'm crap at PvP - is that because I'm a fat bastard then? ;-)
-
Last question isn't very reasonable. A 13 year old probably won't be even close to the general population.
-
The first question is kinda flawed. I'm technically above average in most FPS I play, but I'm no god on the field. I can run a 2.0+ K/D but the higher up is extremely unlikely. Maybe fix that question to make a little more wiggle room? cuz on a scale of 1 to 10 I'm like a 6.8-7.3
-
TLDR; players who perceive themselves as being skilful have weak lifts.
-
Instead of asking about our upper body strength, you should have asked about our back muscles.
-
Your theory is more people will make a smart ass comment, then just fill out the survey.
-
How is it this Bungie employee can manage to be more engaging than community managers?
-
Correlation of testosterone levels and lone wolf tendencies? Or maybe a tie to the army and teamwork since you said upper-body.
-
This should be interesting.
-
Done. Cheers.
