wow what steps did you take to become a utility inspector? seems college is a waste of time now-a-days
-
You got 2 choices. One is spend a few thousand on training classes and testing to get certified in something like coating, cathodic protection, or welding. The another is have enough on the job experience equal to those certifications. I did the second, it only took 10 years working pipeline. Of course you can still make about 100k working pipeline for the right company.

You must be a US senator

Utility inspector. Every time you wake up in the morning and your house hasn't suffered a gas explosion, you can thank me for that.

Haha nice. Is college a requirement?
-
Nope, not a day of college. I'm also in charge of the GPS/GIS department for my company, but that doesn't translate into more pay, just a few perks and headaches here and there.
