Good idea!
It doesn't even has to be a cosmetic item. Just give us 2 of each slot, the first one will have the armor we want the stats (and looms in the absence of a armor on the secondary slot), and the secondary slot will have the armor we want the looks.
So sure, they could make stupid looking armor just for fun, but we would be able to look 100% VoG armor but still have full light
