So to get above 280 I just have to get lucky with purples?

Nah, you'll get lucky with blues. [b]Make damn sure[/b] the legendary perks are worth Infusing with a blue. I'm still rocking blue at 293 light. The perks are more useful all around. Legendary perks are sometimes more situational. Blues can decrypt up to 300. I only have one of those so far, out of 50+ engrams.
