The 300 Light Engram Lie
I'm light level 303. I have always heard when you pass 300 that exotic engrams will start dropping at 300, and in rare cases 310. I've had about 8 exotic engrams since passing 300, yet every one of them has still been 290. What's the deal?

If every character sits at 300 or above every exotic engram will be 310. You have one 34 so it won't work. If you decrypt an engram and your one character is above 300 you have a CHANCE to get it at 310

Seems like it happens with armor and special weapon engrams about 33% of the time. I've received a bunch

Exotics have a chance to decode at 310. Not a guarantee, just a chance.

Im 305, opened 4 engrams got 3 that were 310 and 1 290. It's just luck.

Naw you just have shitty luck. About 98% of my exotic engrams have been 310.

thats wrong. once you hit 300 engrams have a chance of being 310 and if they aren't 310, then they are 290

There is no 300 light decryption, there's just a chance to decrypt at 310 if you're at 300 light or higher. This also applies to exotics looted "in the wild." I have gotten a few 310s, but like you, I still get mostly 290s.

Mine are either 310 or 290 I've never had a 300 drop.

It's RNG. Since passing 300 some drop at 310, others still at 290.

I got a 310 crest of alpha this morning and a 290 ruin wings. So you do have a chance.

It's a [i]chance[/i] to drop at 310. I've noticed that it's slightly less than 50% chance. RNGesus hated my 308 hunter today, and gave him 3 290 exotics, and one 310 exotic. He planned that 310 just to piss me off, because it was a light beyond nemesis with pure intellect. Meaning it's [i]perfect[/i] for my warlock. But at 302, My hunter's helmet is easily the lowest piece of gear. Ahfufjw decisions.

I've heard that you get a chance at 310s per character that you have over 300 simultaneously. Friend of mine has 3 300+ and he hasn't gotten a 290 drop since.
