Lets talk about blink.

To put this forward I hate blink. It is the best PvP movement tool in the game. You can instantly traverse from one point to another with only momentary exposure to enemy fire. This presents a problem in that this allows players to win engagements in ways that they had ABSOLUTELY no right to. Ex. I as a Sunbreaker walk around a corner to find a Voidwalker attempting to snipe a straight away. I back off and chuck an incendiary grenade into that hallway and get hitmarkers. He is hurting and about to be dead, but instead of getting an easy kill I hear a distinctive whoosh of Blink. Before I can even aim upward to try to melee him I get a Universal Remote to the chops followed up by a lifesteal melee. I got outplayed. Its simple as that, but that play was made possible only by blink. The point of jetpack/thrust/jump is to move from one point to another as effectively as its user can manage. And all of these achieve that well. The movement of these carries you from point A to point B while traveling along line C. While on point A, B and line C you can be intercepted by incoming aggressive fire. Ex. Struck by a grenade. Shot. Getting hit with a super ect. Blink bypasses this entire formula. Points of intersection are only momentarily at point A and B. This proves to be a problem in the exceptionally CQC focused maps. By bypassing the movement formula Blink essentially makes players guess as to the user's trajectory and intent. These added variables are entirely manageable were it not for that mariad of ways which you can be dispatched from CQ and no warning. I was recently stuck by a Bladedancer's grenade. Unfortunately my only path was to take him with me. I meleed him. Leaving him weak enough to be killed by his own grenade stuck to my shoulder. But that didn't happen due to instant movement out of the blast radius. Things like this happen nearly every match in the crucible. Thankfully the blinkers arent granted invulnerability frames during its casting animations. A small blessing I guess. You see what I'm getting at here. It is a league above anything else. It ruins tactical engagements, blows through CQC choke points, and it crushes many opportunities to punish stupid actions on the Blinkers part. Im not salty. Im not butthurt. Im just noting the massive gap between blink and the other transportation methods. If it were up to me I would entirely remove the choice to blink at all. I am fine with everything else the classes can do. Just not this.
