Then use different guns...? Just because there's a year two version, doesn't mean you can't use new weapons. Unless you lack the willpower to resist of course.

If there's no incentive to use new guns then only a minority of players would use year 2 guns. The game has progression so your old weapons will become obsolete, it happens. Those weapons are already gone, let them go.
