Well, I've paid and played for a year. Both expansions. And well, better games are out and coming soon! I've been enjoying batman and now have MGS to play and fallout rapidly approaches!
I've tried bungie. I've really tried.
I played again today after about a month off. And, well, I just realised what drove me away in the first place really is just to big to ignore.
Destiny is pretty, but so unbelievably stale.
I gave it a solid day. After almost a solid year.
But here's what was completely unforgivable.
pvp: lag-switchers and dodgy hit counts. Add blink strike to this and pvp is unplayable. I'm tired of shooting faces, to see them not count. I'm tired of handcannons having ranges like scout rifles, sick of shotguns and kill-trading, and really over the always on radar. Run to red, shoot, repeat. Without the radar, pvp is tense and great (especially with laggers) but with it always on, it rewards poor situational awareness. Over all, so bad I never truly enjoyed it.
PVE: fun. For about 2 hours. Again, enemy types are ok (just ok) but bland. The enemies should be a big part of the story, you should feel like you have to really defeat them, not just wander through waves.
Story: not enough to make me care enough to see where it's going. Too sparse. I never felt like my avatar was "needed" just "there too" grimoire: yawn. I really don't care about the taken king, nor why he's cranky at me. World too shallow, story too sparse, pacing out of synch.
Social: forums=ok. In game? Nothing. There's a freaking lounge under FWC that's empty! Come on!
Last gen ports: really? What else does this achieve besides hobbling and thinning out the game? Should've been next gen only
Over all. Boring. I gave it a solid go, but it felt empty. I won't be buying TTK. I'd rather a game that is engrossing. That has depth, that rewards thinking and skill. Not grinding and RNG.
To all who enjoy, keep playing, it's a great time waster and feels solid (pve anyway). But bungie, I'm more sceptical now of anything you put your name against, and sure as heck won't pay more than $40 AUD for anything you ever release from now on. We got ripped off here in Australia, big time. Never again.

Well good luck to you in your adventures guardian. You had alot of well founded points there. I totally agree with you! I left for awhile shortly after house of wolves because of boredom and summer time activies. I decided to give ttk a go because there isnt any other game i'm interested in until fallout. Ttk is going to have to be pretty awesome for me not to bail again once that comes out. Hopefully bungie stepped things up this time with year two. Who knows maybe you'll be back once the new stuff drops and videos start surfacing.

I agree with quite a bit, but don't blame Bungie completely. Activision cut content AND the original story, sold said content as DLC, and is trying to suck the money out of us. Many Bungie employees actually left because of Activision doing what it did. If the original story was kept, the game would be a lot better.

Youre not alone. Plenty are and have or will jump ship, even after TTK comes out, and Desticles SERIOUSLY overestimate the number of fresh faced suckers that are about to jump on. This games in deep shit. Soon the only people keeping it afloat will be the ardent Bungie supporters, the "Desticles" if you will, many of whom will no doubt be typing, BYE FELICIA and other retarded crap below. Much akin to a parrot, who simply mimics all the other Desticles who spout ridiculousness, their willingness to get screwed over and pay for the priveledge will play a huge role in this games undoing. Also about matchmaking, it really is still a pile of drivel, after a whole year the most glaring issues havent been fixed nor will they. Jump into Battlefield 4, fellas, itll get you through until the next big FPS comes along. Also, SUP DESTICLES!

Lol I just put like maybe 3 weeks or a month on this game and I was done with this bullshit. A 6 out of 10 game that also lied to everyone's face and still people keep supporting this trash. I support high quality game developers,but what I don't support is bullshit like this.

[u][i][b]I CAN GUARENTEE IT IS BUNGIES BULLSHIT P2P NETWORK THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXTINCT AND LEFT IN THE 1990'S[/b][/i][/u] example I had 7mbps download old crappy service old router and I had no real knowledge of setting up my router like bungie wants...... so I changed all that shit big time . $600 later with new top notch router 30mbps that tops out around 35mbps download ( yes it goes over my limit so damn happy ) 7 Mbps upload under 50ms ping to ALL servers in the U.S.A. ( normal average is 42ms ping across 80+servers I have tested on ) I learned how to set all the firewall ports for my ps3 I am wired in and even had multiple techs come out rewire cables in building to box outside and double check all settings I made and guess what brother ...... I STILL GET LAG IN PVP 0-o and I still get error codes although its much less than before I still get them and it pisses me off to no damn end ! and yes I stay green in PvP but if I open my nat type I get paired with Brazilians and Chinese players ....like WTF so I run moderate unless I play another game the at the flip of a switch bang open nat almost no load time and super stable connection on every other game except destiny . so mouth off about old gens if you want but if it wasn't for us Activision would have shut destiny down long ago and don't blame old gens for bungies screw ups , this is their first sandbox engine and yes its a grade A POS
