Gather round children and let me educate you. Destiny is a failed attempt to replicate the magic of the inceadibly sucessfull Borderlands series. Let's hop into it.
Basic gameplay mechanics: On a basic level Destiny and Borderlands have similar gameplay mechanics. These include: several types of guns, being able to equip more than 2 guns at a time (not a terribly common attribute), multiple classes each with a unique super ability, elemental weapons, an extraneously high number of unique guns (a trait not apparent in most first person shooters), ammo drops specific to gun types and many more things I'm sure I'm forgetting.
Online: Both Borderlands and Destiny are built around being a social expirience with vast online capabilities. Both have content that can only be completed with the help of other players. The difference is that Borderlands has copeus ammounts of content that don't require friends. One could easily get hundreds of hours of single player gameplay in any Borderlands game WITHOUT REPEATING ANY MISSION. Any Borderlands game has more single player accessible content than all of Destiny's content (including the dlc's.)
Story: Borderlans has a story. Boom roasted.
Loot: Both of these games have a similar loot concepts at their core and they boil down to: kill enemies/bosses and get loot in the long run. The difference however is that Borderlands has a much higher likelyhood of reward, often guaranteed rewards, whereas Destiny leaves a vast majortiy of their loot system up to complete unrewarding chance. Borderlands rewards it's players far better than Destiny does.
My final conclusion is that Bungie attempted to replicate the great game that is Borderlands, but fell short on the project. They fell short because they decided to make their game a slot machine with no content or story.
TL;DR: Stop playing Destiny, start playing Borderlands and git gud scrub.

I loved borderlands, but the loot system was garbage. You'd get an OP gun that negated almost all other drops. The weapons in Destiny are much more balanced by comparison, giving a larger variety of gunplay. As far as gameplay, what no one likes to admit is that RPG structured gameplay as seen in borderlands/any Bethesda game is just as repetitive as Destiny. Bungie just doesn't try to hide it. Any side quest in any RPG ever is basically "go to point A and do action B then return to A/go to C" usually while retreading already discovered territory. Destiny's equivalent are patrols and bounties, but you are usually able to choose where and how you complete them, giving the player more options while reaping the same benefits and being able to complete more faster through multitasking. The mission structure of destiny is way more socially oriented, allowing you to hop in, help and move on. Other games that relied solely on a level system over the course of an extended campaign left you feeling stuck having to replay old content with no rewards just to play with friends if they weren't as far along as you were. Destiny's compact campaign helps to resolve that, providing players an easy route to enjoy endgame content with friends where everyone has a chance at rewards. Also consider the economy. While it may be flawed, Destiny's economy and vendors far outlive the lifespan of any other RPG's vendors, where almost all gear you can buy is always a little subpar to what you've already acquired leaving you to accumulate an absurd amount of currency with absolutely nothing beneficial to spend it on. And the raids. Holy sh!t. The raids. Nothing compares to the raid experience of Destiny. All of that said, I do hope that Bungie follows borderlands lead and craft some new character classes for next year. TL;DR The major difference is really just in structure of content that's more socially accessible with better weapon balance/variety. That social emphasis along the carrot on the stick loot system gives more replayability than the more "traditional" long, drawn out campaign that becomes repetitive and boring in its own way.

2 RespuestasMan... I played both extensively. Especially the Borderlands series. Got all DLC and all that. Only problem I had with Borderlands 2 was the level cap increasing twice, meaning I had to re grind for perfect legendaries twice. THEN all over again 8 times with those OP levels?! Didn't even touch those. That's ridiculous. Borderlands has had more item resets than Destiny, in a shorter timespan. Same thing with the Presequel, just no OP shit. And I stopped playing the Presequel after I leveled up Fragtrap and Wilhelm... they are the best. Didn't play past Mind of Claptrap DLC, if I even played that one. Don't think so.

1 RespuestaYou're hilarious. Keep this up so I can laugh when I'm having a bad work day.

3 RespuestasSeriously? Borderlands was a bad attempt at a game in general.

2 RespuestasBorderlands graphics are terrible. Why does a story matter so much to people gameplay is way more important to me

5 RespuestasEditado por Rick: 9/21/2015 5:20:06 PMI love Borderlands but Destiny and Borderlands are not remotely similar at all. Anyone making this claim has either not played Destiny (most likely) or not played Borderlands.

5 RespuestasCan borderlands do this?

I hated boarderlands

9 RespuestasI honestly believe destiny has a bigger player/fan base than borderlands.
-
Video games are a failed attempt at movies See i can make absolutely zero sense too.
-
Both are fun. But something bout borderlands got really dull... Guess it was all the shamfleeting gunzerkers and hackers who'd crash the game by dropping oceans op8 guns... I stopped playing at 2, never got TPS

Bruh tiny tina, Brick, butt stallion, and claptrap, and mr torge (hopefully I spelled his name right) Are amazing characters with way more in depth story then the destinys storyline its self plus they are all -blam!-ing funny as hell
-
...borderlands was a failed attempt at a shooter that's actually fun to play. I can do this too.

1 RespuestaEditado por LarkinDLux: 10/8/2015 2:58:12 AMThey definitely have a large amount of similarities, and borderlands is a lot larger, and funner game. However I think bungie definitely made sure there game is addictive as possible. Although op, is probably long gone.

I hate Borderlands. Love Destiny. Sooooo there's that...

5 RespuestasOnly thing borderlands has over Destiny is the M rating.

Borderlands, in my honest opinion, doesn't have much more pull and draw as Destiny, or as much replay value. Sure, it's a fun game, but once you do everything in the game (which I have), it gets very boring. Eh, that's just me though. To each their own. I'll keep playing Destiny because it just draws me in more.
-
Your cute today. No they are very different on just story and play style. Even dialogue.

You are a failed attempti

My God... Spell check man!

Borderlands 2 is a great game, but I think all developers steals ideas from other games. Maybe not steal but more like they were inspired by a game and they want to make out better. Borderlands seems like a rip off of Diablo series except with guns. Both games you describe are great.
-
I never really got into borderlands like I did with destiny. The only things I truly liked about borderlands was the sick humor and the variety of enemies

3 RespuestasDecent attempt at a troll post. Came on a little strong though. The idea is to convince people that you genuinely have a conflicting opinion. Although I think you have gotten your point across it was slightly heavy handed and makes it a little too obvious that your just trying to get a rise out of people Overall 7/10 Next time use Skyrim as an example

Sure, if failure is selling a lot more copies.
