They already made there 500 million back. Destiny was one of Activision's top 3 best sellers this past earnings report. Making gear obsolete and moving on happens in every RPG, MMO, and in every installment of an FPS game, which is yearly. I can't use my m16 from modern warfare in ghost, people are not using year one exotics in WoW, and I certainly didn't slay any dragons in Skyrim with the first sword I picked up. How is Destiny any different?

Don't even bother doing nightfalls in the new Taken Kings battles. Forget about any high level exotic rewards. Save your energy for the cabal in 5 months. 7 RespuestasI'm really holding my tongue here but I will say this: I can agree to the notion that perhaps Bungie's system of "3 months - wipe - 3 months - wipe..." isn't the greatest way to go about running a game. Traditionally developers (of MMOs) will release content as a constant trickle of newer and better items until finally a full blown expansion warrants the introduction of a new system or way of doing things. What they do not do is plop an expansion in your lap, then return in 2.5 months with a new expansion and say "oh, yeah that stuff you're doing right now is already redundant because we're rebooting again. Remember to preorder :)". This side of the argument I can understand. The side where you want your guns to go to the grave with you and stay top gear and relevant throughout the entire journey... I can't understand this unhealthy clinging to virtual bs lol So yes there is an argument to present but hanging onto Fatebringer like a blankie of a small child? No that's just strange.

1 RespuestaI began to get hard from this then I realized 1) I am not gay. 2) This was -blam!-. Also because of them rendering our legendaries and most exotics useless that makes most non Taken Ling content useless as there is no point in acquiring the gear from these activities.

The expectation is you will stay and spend all your free time leveling those weapons, in other words grind the same environment with slightly changed enemies all over again. Just to reach an acceptable light level to run the new raid? Not worth it.

Looking at what Bungie did with HoW, I can only expect that our weapons will eventually be able to be upgraded. However, I can see both sides of this having good points and really either one is right in their on way. We the players work hard for our legendary weapons, often grinding the same activity for ages just for the chance to get a chance at our desired weapon. To see them obsolete is to see all that time effectively wasted. All those nights you spent grinding for that weapon and gear was wasted. Bungie might say "Well, you can still use it in their respective activities." And I say nuts to that. We don't grind for fatebringer just to use it in the VoG, this is counterproductive in that you can simply use the weapon you completed it the first time. Another thing Bungie says "We've created a plethora of new weapons we want you to play with." And I say how can we become our own legend when we don't even have the power to use the weapons we like. Bungie has a system in place (infusion) that screams "THIS IS HOW YOU CAN UPGRADE YOUR OLD GEAR!" Yet they decided to keep them out. It's just maddening. On the other side, in Bungie's defense, as a community we likely are attached to a maximum of 6 legendary weapons and use very few regularly. For example, everyone loves the same weapons for PvE, Fatebringer, Found Verdict, Vision of Confluence, and a [i]few[/i] others. I can see Bungie's mentality in that we only use a handful of legendaries anyway so we won't miss them that much. Another argument is that they've created atleast 9 sets of legendary weapons and atleast 6 sets of legendary gear. When Vanilla Destiny came out, there was 6 sets of legendary weapons and armor. So it can be said that they've made more than enough for us to experiment and play with. So, it can go either way.

29 RespuestasIt's good, what if COD, Battlefield and many others transferred stats,weapons,armor, and even levels over. What's the point of a new game? To play with all the old stuff? Play in old gear? If that was the case. COD would've died first. Its all about keeping a new experience and fresh game.
