Feedback for bungie.

I'm taking a break from Destiny. Why? Because of the direction that Bungie is steering Destiny for the near future. Why should you care? You shouldn't. But, as someone who's experienced almost everything Destiny has to offer since its conception I'd like to think I can give an informed opinion on the game, its mechanics, etc. So here are my long list of suggestions in no particular order. 1. As everyone knows Destiny for better or worse is getting an overhaul when TTK as you also might have noticed opinions over those changes whether they be gear being left behind, a whole new leveling system for Destiny, and changes in the basic economy and currency system, as well as a whole host of balances for weapons. What I would like to see is a voting system, preferably in game where we as a community can vote on things so Bungie can get a more organized and easily graph-able data set. There would only be questions organized by Bungie themselves, you only vote once per account or console even and there would always be at least 3 response options. This would allow Bungie to get a direct look at what the majority of the community wants whether they ask a question about what gun we would like to be balanced next A,B, or C rather than just the vocal minority on the forums. It would also allow Destiny to change into the game we want to play by having Bungie do things based on player response rather than just looking at page after page of misguided forum posts. 2. Transparency, I would assume this one is pretty self explanatory. If Bungie wants to build trust between their community and themselves they need to have a better line of communication than just Cozmo or Deej, or allow those to greater freedom in the information they are allowed to present and how they present it. Currently if someone asks when is something being fixed such as Crota chasing people into the crystal room the best you can hope for is we know its a problem. Or worse Deej will say something such as more HoW content coming out later in the summer and then hope everyone forgets about it by trying to hype up TTK. Bungie, I have been a fan since Halo 1 I and many others don't need hype, half truths, and false promises. If your content that you are trying to sell is well made, well tested, well thought out, and fun it should be able to stand by its own merits. Based off the past two DLCs and how they were hyped I don't have much faith in regards to TTK at the moment. 3. Before you keep plowing forwards with Destiny we as a community really need points 1 and 2 because from a consumer perspective the past two dlcs were overpriced, underdeveloped, and not thought out very well with much of the basic game constantly going back and forth such as the vex being frozen in time to allowing it to be ascended to the queens wrath being put back in the oven to being incorporated into HoW. From this track record and what I've seen so far I'm not looking forward to TTK with the past two costing $35 and this entire dlc costing $40 I'm highly skeptical. We can be patient please take the time to flesh out the dlcs you don't need to rush I'll gladly throw money if you made future changes on player feedback and if you also kept us more update while also being less vague and trying to hype. 4. More well thought out permanent PvE events. When I bought this game I thought the main focus would be 90% PvE stuff. While this is true in a sense, what we PvE people have is very linear and repetitive unless played with friends. PvP have gotten IB and Trials. To go back to point 1 and 3 Bungie is trying to keep a schedule of things to release whether it be things we've asked for or not. Now think which is easier A. to make a new game mode with some re-skinned guns and armor or B. to add in some new events into patrol for example which is why while it makes sense from a business standpoint to just churn out some PvP stuff because its easier I would like to see so more well thought out PvE events not like the first and only Queens Wrath event. If Bungie polled the community on what they would like to see more of I'm sure many would agree and even if it took a while to be added as long as these events were a permanent additions and not temporary like the blades of crota I'd be willing to wait. 5. This is more nitpicky and unrealistic I realize but I would like if Bungie would take a page from Shadow of Mordor and make each enemy we fight have a little individuality. Or think of how all the raiders in fallout wear different cobbled together pieces of armor. Its not a big thing but it would just be something to make the game a little more cool. 6. Allow us to upgrade, ascend, infuse, or whatever you want to call it our arms and armor. After playing Destiny for year many have realized there isn't really a story or a narrative. You don't become the hero of legend who saves the princess after destroying the heart all you are is just another practically mute chump. So instead since there was no story gear collecting instead became the main reason to play from fatebringer to hopscotch we collected to complement our play style and become what we thought of as legend in our eyes. By not allowing us the option to effectively use what weapons and armor we want in any activity it severely undermines everything we've done in Destiny up until now. 6a. If you don't want to use the same gun for ten years because that would be boring that's your choice don't force everyone back to TDB days where everyone looked the same and used the same guns. 6b. Just because other games make high end gear less effective by the next dlc doesn't mean Destiny should. With a lack of story and other game elements such as trading grinding for gear is the main point of Destiny for many. As a side point the points between WoW expansions is years not months like Destiny and when they are released there is always a wide variety of things to do unlike the past dlcs for Destiny. 6c. Guns like Fatebringer are on the cusp of being OP which is why to avoid power creep Bungie has artificially nerfed those guns for activities in TTK based off of HoW and etheric light. But what not many seem to understand is that unlike people using thorn in Crucible most people chose to ascend VoG weapons over most HoW weapons is not because VoG weapons and Vanilla perks are so much better but rather because HoW weapons and perks were so much worse. If you want to entice people to use weapons make weapons we actually want to use. This is the problem because from a player perspective Bungie seems to have run out of ideas in regards to new interesting perks and weapons. Instead of make our current guns worse to make the new guns seem better add in new perks to make the new ones actually worthwhile for example you could have a perk called double dip where every bullet you fire has a one in five chance to fire an extra bullet. 7. The reason people like fatebringer, Gally, and Blackhammer is because they are the best tools currently for expediting the process of collecting loot from bosses. Why? Because all high level enemies are bullet sponges other than maybe Atheon and Crota to an extent. This is where there is a major fault in Bungie's thinking. Every boss consist of spamming him as fast as possible because after a point peppering a boss with small arms fire just to get a small chance at good loot is annoying, tedious, and frustrating. Rather than nerfing these heavy hitters to make the game artificially more difficult they need to add more boss mechanics. The problem with this is that making something like that takes time and money which is something Bungie is trying to cut corners with. Which is how we end up with Gally not being brought into year 2 rather than just making it not necessary through boss mechanics. Take Atheon for example, you can blast away at him with Gally all you want but unless you have times vengeance you aren't going to be doing any damage. Bosses like this are a step in the right direction. For example maybe you could have a exploding thrall boss that chases you and by having a certain level of sparrow such as one of the raid sparrows you can outrun the boss and after some point it would explode and die. 8. Make ships more that just a loading screen, maybe have larger ships so that when waiting in orbit with a fireteam you and your fireteam members can roam the interior of the fireteam leader's ship. 9. Stop making crucible weapon balance decision that effect PvE one should not influence the other such as when auto rifles were nerfed across the board instead nerfing the suros individually. 10. When making weapon balance decisions try to see things from multiple perspectives. For example shotguns in crucible are considered a problem right now so their range and the amount of special you could find was nerfed and still people continue to use them. Why? Because its not that shotguns and blink to a degree are op its that the maps themselves compliment a shotgun run and gun playstyle. Make larger maps with more vehicles and more open sight lines and you will see substantially less shotguns being used. But, what also needs to be addressed on the other end is on larger to medium maps try to not make as many sniper funnels such as the hallways on Pantheon where the only way to advance is down a straight corridor. Sorry for the wall of text this was mostly a brain dump. Please be courteous and constructive.
