In games I've always gone with a character that was closest to realistic. I think it's easier to jump than float or glide or have a boost upwards. I think this is some sort of psychological thing where I can try to make a character that I can easily get attached to (thank God this isn't game of thrones) and so I can get immersed even easier.
Edit: (forgot to put what I'd chosen) That's probably why I chose the hunter.
