It's true Destiny doesn't have any truly innovative features, however the amalgamation of MMO-lite features, and aspects seen in other titles like Borderlands and Phantasy Star boil down to something the above don't quite fit into.
FPS shooter with MMO elements unlike anything currently on Console

It's true Destiny doesn't have any truly innovative features
See it? It's either hyperbole or hypocrisy but either way it's so thick you could cut it with a knife. Destiny is very much like other games on console. In fact it's pretty much a hybrid of other games, particularly their own previous games.

Editado por Un1337ninj4: 8/7/2015 1:54:05 AMIt is unlike any of those titles by being this amalgamation that's an overall unique product using these features. Bungie admitted this flat-out and on a technical scale the above statements are true. Unless you'd rather have just a Bungie updated linear hallway shooter that instead of having something like several other games is exactly like every other game. In my books bringing some of these features otherwise exclusive to certain genres and blurring the line is something that deserves a note.

Of course if you consider the combination of every element that goes into destiny you can easily say that no other video game is made of exactly every element of that which makes up Destiny. By that logic, every single video game is completely unique and in no way comparable to other games. And that's simply not true. In reality, Destiny is a loot based shooter with RPG elements and MMO elements. It is like many other games. The statement that Destiny is unlike anything on consoles is flat out false because it is constantly, and rightfully, compared to many other games.
Unless you'd rather have just a Bungie updated linear hallway shooter that instead of having something like several other games is exactly like every other game.
Of course not. Why would I want that? I'm not criticising Bungie's game design, just your statement about it being unlike anything on consoles. The concept of Destiny is fine.
In my books bringing some of these features otherwise exclusive to certain genres and blurring the line is something that deserves a note.
True, the blending of elements here, while not revolutionary, is quite satisfying. I'm not taking umbrage with that sentiment. The bottom line is that Destiny is absolutely and unequivocally very much like other games on console.

Valid points, thank you for adding in your perspective! And now to lighten up a bit I call upon the Crypt Keeper

take a look at elder scrolls then take a look at destiny. they have the same elements, elder scrolls is just better

Editado por Un1337ninj4: 8/7/2015 1:21:47 AMIf you're talking about that stain on the franchise than sure, different strokes for different folks. However, that's a completely different experience. There isn't a shooter with these elements, the only thing that ever got close is Phantasy Star and that's a bit of a stretch. Destiny's unique trait is having admittedly not inherently innovative features but building a unique platfrom from them. If I wanted to play a true MMO like ESO or FFXIV: ARR I'd hop onto one of those. However as an MMO-lite shared world shooter Destiny has backseat MMO features with a greater emphasis on the shooter without the solidarity of a traditional model.

yes it is a shooter, but look how easy the game is now, and it'll be even more easier when trk comes out. this isn't really what a mmo is supposed to be man. you can literally get all 3 characters to 34 in a week, maybe even shorter. the longevity is poor. and if they want to make the game am actual grind, put it back to how it used to be before all dlc, make more character types, with different builds beacuse running 3 characters get boring when it's nothing to do. the way bungie treats their players make them think all mmo's are a walk in a park, and it's not.
-
Editado por Un1337ninj4: 8/7/2015 1:34:27 AMInteresting perspective, I'm not against more grind as I am that guy. However, the majority of Destiny players are either: Console players completely unacquainted with a hard grind, Social aspects, etc. That, and 7 USD per month is less than that of a more traditional MMO.
-
exactly, everybody is used to fps like call of duty and battlefield since it's mainstream so it was only right for bungie to make an fps again as it's their main stronghold, and is also console friendly. it's a introduction to mmo's i just hope they can flip it around and stop finessing the players.

Honestly, I feel that's touched on in the new LL system. The only way to get something ranked up is to dump XP into it and when you get a new pair of boots you've gotta do it again for that item to get it's Light up.
