What if in like the Easter egg from halo 3, the secrets in the vault are only obtainable once a year? Maybe that vex gate in the vault is active on a certain day? Like the release date of destiny perhaps? They have a 10 year plan for this franchise after all

On the main menu in halo 3 if you hold the 2 thumb sticks in it zooms out. If you do this on the 25th of dec there's a hidden birthday message someone from bungee left there for his wife. Took 7 years for people to find haha
