What do you guys think? I am currently against abortion but I want to look at the argument both ways to see which side is truly right. Long, thought out comments are greatly appreciated.
Edit 1: Although it was kind of implied, is it specifically killing a human being? A woman should be able to do what she wants with her body but is the thing inside of her its own body, therefore having its own rights?
Edit 2: If the fetus has its own DNA, heartbeat, and brainwaves, how is it less than human? Scientific answers and explanations would be greatly appreciated.
Edit 3: If the fetus is human, regardless of what circumstances it will be born into it is entitled by the Constitution to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

"If the fetus has its own DNA, heartbeat, and brainwaves, how is it less than human? Scientific answers and explanations would be greatly appreciated." If a chimpanzee has its own DNA, heartbeat, and brainwaves, how is it less human?

Morally complicated.
-
So women have more rights than other humans? Examine that feminists.

Can't raise it?
Flush it.
But it is not born yet

This subject is so gray. It's good and bad at the same time. No way around it.
-
Even if you are against it making it illegal will just worsen the situation. Women that get abortions illegally may not be given the best treatment( good conditions, clean utensils ect)
-
Protection. Just putting it out there.

Why is killing a pregnant woman called double murder?

7 RespuestasThe way I see it, the life of a currently living person is worth more than the life of a potentially living person. Only last year in Ireland, a woman called Savita Halapanavar (might be mispelt) died because of a miscarriage, and the doctors wouldn't conduct an abortion because the foetus was still alive at the time, so it would be illegal. As for the morality issue, I choose not to force my opinions on others. If something is in a moral grey zone, I'd prefer to make it legal and let people decide for themselves.

13 RespuestasImo I find it to be acceptable. I find it acceptable because it is in human development. >it is developing and while it may have a heart and brain. Those developed first and it is still just a mesh of cells
when I was in 6th grade we hatched chicken eggs. We candled them to see the heart and what not. While my teacher dropped one of the eggs and it cracked open spilling the contents. The heart was there but that was it. I didn't feel bad because at that point it was a mesh of cells
>if one must have an abortion it should be during the point where it still does not resemble human. >some people have serve health problems and carrying to term would kill one or both. >some are products of -blam!- >some would be born into Crack houses with Crack whore mothers. Most importantly is this is a personal issue. One that should have laws in place with a cut off point to how long one can wait to do it. Also people should mind their own business to put it bluntly. What one person does to their own body should not affect another. Everything would be much simpler is people would not try to shove their ideologies down other people's throats.

Editado por hardazzdiamond: 4/22/2015 10:33:18 PMArguing when life begins is a slippery slope. If life legally begins at conception you open the doors for the state to charge a woman devestated by a miscarriage with murder. This is about choice and no legal body should be allowed to infringe on a womans choice of what to do with her body.

I'm not sure. I wouldn't call it morally unacceptable because I'm ok with a woman choosing to do that. But I think it's -blam!-ed up and you should try to avoid having to do that.

1 RespuestaIt's fine as long as you don't try and shove it down my throat. The law, not the fetus or anything.

35 RespuestasIf it has a biological or genetic make up (100% similar to human genetics) which is in the process of developing it's alive therefore murder if terminated. Exodus 20:13 KJV 13 Thou shalt not kill.

Editado por UltraCon79: 4/22/2015 10:06:38 PMPrior to having kids I thought your body your choice. Now I would like to know at what point in a pregnancy does the baby have rights? Also those rights are endowed by the creator on The Declaration Of Independence.

1 RespuestaEverytime I see this topic, this question comes to my mind... How many babies I kill each time I jerk off? O.o
-
2 RespuestasI agree with it, however the options say "morally" so no I don't believe it's moral
-
9 RespuestasIt's not human unless it's capable of free thinking, and actual thoughts. Just because it had brain waves, it means nothing.
-
2 RespuestasMy honest opinion: 1) I'm against it for the pure fact it's murder, and it's just a baby. 2) if the mother doesn't want the child she could give it up for adoption. 3) If the mom of the fetus doesn't want it in this cruel world then so be it, it's up to her in that case.
-
2 Respuestasif you dont want a baby at the time and you somehow got pregnant then it is your choice if someone wants to give ya shit for it then -blam!- them
