I was bored tonight so I looked to see if Harold Ryan's number was listed anywhere online. I found it (although google told me the number was just Bungie's switchboard, so don't go pranking it if you find it), and the site listed his job as the owner of a company called "Arete Seven." A quick google revealed this page, which says that a Kirkland based company named Arete Seven is doing business as "Bungie." (Use CTRL-F to bring up the "find" window and type "Bungie").
I looked up the word Arete and found that it is Greek for "Noble." So Bungie is the Noble Seven Company?

You know Bungie works in mysterious ways. What if Arete Seven isn't Bungie's real name but its what they want you think?
Posted by: ohlala I did a little bit more research. Since 'Arete' is a Greek word, I started to tie in the connection with 'Spartan', I thought the below was interesting enough to share:
The Spartan arete was to be a perfect fighter; they started military training at seven, and were incredibly fit and athletic
Aka Master Chief!
translation;greek to english: Arete means S#!^
Posted by: irso0o1337 When the Disney coperation was buying land for their Florida themepark they used fake names lake "Cherokee Development" and "Tomhawk Industries" to purchase the swamplands so no one would notice one of the worlds most succesful companies building a billion dollar park. Obviously bungie is going to make a theme park for their video games in Kirkland. Or their up to somthing secret and awsome
Although when Disney bought the swamp, they were still a very small company. So does this mean Bungie have already built whatever this is? Somebody check Bungie investment in Swiss land now!

Ok, without reading the rest of the thread, I noticed this on bungie.net under the code of conduct:
Love Thy Neighbor Or at least tolerate them publicly. Ahem. The Bungie.net Web Site comprises various Web pages, including Bungie.com, Bungie.net, "7th Column" and Bungie Store operated by Microsoft or its affiliates (collectively, the "Bungie Web Sites").
Enough said? Judging from the second post, and if you are right, you have "punishment" on the way.
Posted by: franklube The truth has been reveled. And i posted on the original topic. It seems, for whatever reason, Bungie just doesn't want to answer this thread. Note to the flaming ninjas: I have a gun. Stay away from me.
LOL WIN
Posted by: bjb yo Also, I found a poem named ARETE by someone who actually lived in Sparta. A.K.A. a Spartan. His name was Tyrtaeus. It is said that Tyrtaeus was a lame schoolmaster, sent by the Athenians as likely to be of the least assistance to the Spartans. He later became a citizen of Sparta. In Greek, Arete meant excellence, virtue, and superiority. The poems Tyrtaeus wrote were used to inspire the Spartan soldiers to deeds of heroism in the field. Rise up, warriors, take your stand at one another's sides, your feet set wide and rooted like oaks in the ground. Then bide your time, biting your lip, for you were born from the blood of Heracles, unbeatable by mortal men, and the god of gods has never turned his back on you. So cast off whatever fears arise at the armored legions they'll muster before you, hedge yourself round with hollow shields, and learn to love death's ink-black shadow as much as you love the light of dawn. So that when the hour comes, the battle lines drawn, you won't hang back beyond javelin and stone but, marshaled into ranks, advance as one to engage your enemy hand to hand. Then hefting your bronze-tipped spears and raking the air with your broadswords, set foot to foot, battle dress to weaponry, horsehair crest to polished mail, and --- helmet to helmet, eye to eye --- mangle their gear, hack off limbs, lay open the organs that warm their chests, then beat them down until the plain runs red with enemy blood and you still stand, breathlessly gripping your wet sword's hilt. Here's the url: http://readytogoebooks.com/classics/Tyrtaeus-arete.htm P.S. This poem was made in 7th century B.C.
Excellent find! And, lol at 7th century. Everything about that screams out Bungie.
