Because we're clearly the only nation with a language worth speaking. This is why people, myself included, are not a fan of Americans. So ignorant to think everyone should conform to your standards because your American and they're Spanish.

I disagree with the OP, but if you are in my country tou need to speak my language.... as i would have to speak your language in yours... Since i live in USA, that means speak english, we as a nation should NOT have to cater to everyone elses native language... no other country does....

Have you ever been over seas? It's normal for a person to know 4 languages... I knew a 9 year old who knew 5. Fluent in 4. German friends of mine knew Italian German english and Spanish.

Awesome.... no i have not been overseas, but my point is valid... in france, germany, mexico to be able to do business, or generally get by i would need to know the basics of the language..... but here in the USA the melting pot broke down, we (government) caters to everyone, here in california the ballot is in something like 2o (guessing) different languages.... heck if your going to vote here at least be able to read and understand the common tongue, in this case english..

I dunno I just think it would be cool if Americans would learn another lanuage. I think a person should at least attempt to learn the host nations language, it shows respect at least trying. But let's face it, Americans should know more than English. A lot of other countries are into the idea of learning languages and I think it'd be respectful If Americans followed suite.

Learning Spanish grammatical functions is a hell of a lot easier than English ones

It's a two-way street. Are you going to go to Spain and expect them all to learn english to accommodate you? It's silly logic. If a country has a primary central language, it should be expected that everyone in that country for any length of time use that shared central language. That's not ignorance, that's basic global courtesy. Now, if the people OP was playing with were actually IN their native country at the time, say, they were in Spain or in Mexico, then both parties are speaking their native languages and there's no correct method of communication. If that was the case, it would have been in OP's best interest to use LFG or something similar rather than trust the matchmaking.

I can see your point there. The real kicker is not knowing where they were playing from, which is a huge fault in Bungie's matchmaking system.
