I was in the process of writing up a thread about this but it seems you've beat me to the punch, the materials economy is the worst its ever been, especially after the removal of legendary shards. You ned 3, 3 damn ascendant shards, to masterwork one piece of Exotic armour now, its insane! Not to mention legendary lost sectors are pointless now and there's a huge burden on ciphers as well, thanks to the fact that its the only way to get unobtained exotics now.

Masterworking exotic armour has, since the armour 2.0 change, always cost three Ascendent Shards for the final tier while legendary pieces cost one. And we have so many sources for mats, now, and more ways to work up to the higher tiers of mats. More than ever before. I remember when you had to get planetary materials in varying amounts just to upgrade power level of armour, and when you could only get enhancement cores in limited amounts from Spider, again for a random planetary material or other resource. And you prayed he had some sort of shard or glimmer loop going for the material you needed for the cores so you could get the max cores you could get. Go back further than Foresaken, and this exchange didn't even exist! I remember masterworking armour was only 5 tiers, but it was 5 tiers of pain. And that was assuming you got the perks you wanted on your armour in the first place, because they had random rolls like most guns do. Even the masterwork for armour (which was a set damage type resilence) was random. We can always go back to that system if you'd prefer. People who think it's so hard to grind for materials these days to upgrade stuff and make their builds perfect have absolutely no idea what the word grind means if it hit them. Honestly, just play the game and don't overthink it. You'll get the materials you need one way or another.

Exactly, I just went bankrupt over and over farming claws of the wolf on the iron banner, it’s crazy.

This is what happens when you don't plan ahead. The six month long season immediately prior to TFS release afforded you every opportunity to save resources. 100% on you. But I get it.....blame Bungle because that's the thing to do....isn't it? You do that IRL too? Blame others, that Is. Fair question since you raised the point. Prior to TFS release I liquidated all shards (did you?), had 3,000 Core, 100 Enhancement Prism, 30 Ascendant Alloy, 30 Ascendant Shard, 500k Glimmer, 3,000 Phantasmal, 5 Cypher, and 22 exotic engrams. I immediately upgraded a good number of Adept Raid weapons, Brave weapons, old favorites, and MW some exotic armor. Ranked up Rahool.....picked up new exotics. Then.....having plenty of leftover still, played per usual. I've spent like crazy along the way as I earned & never have a shortage..... ....currently 17 Ascendant Alloy, 24 Ascendant Shard, 3 October, 71 Ascendant Shard, 2,300 Core, 2,036 phantasmal. 500k Glimmer. Handled your in-game matters. There's no government cheese waiting for you.

This is honestly a poor response. Not everyone had billions of shards before tfs released especially new lights and newer players. Its asinine to make things cost 20k-100k to focus an item when its the only currency now. You use to be able to go around with a 65% increase on the ghost and nab roughly 10k a lost sector. There is also a glitch going on with glimmer where its not actually adding up fast i recieved 6k from a chest and when checked only recieved 400 glimmer.

So........ You didn't prep. Got it. You had six months, plenty of time for ANY player....even if brand new to the game at that point. Like I said, the savings were a tremendous boost....but I'd have been fine without most of it too. Although I've played for ten years this is the first time I've focused this much on prep. Now I know, and will never again get caught behind the curve such as yourself. All of the complaints here are unfounded, including yours. 100% on you. If I can stick that much aside over six months, anyone can. We're playing the same game. Economy is the same for all if us. So why are some claiming such great difficulty "making ends meet"? - personal management issues. Period. Quit pushing blame.

Not everyone plays 6+ hours a day and alot of people never got to spend their last bits of shards. I had 50k and didnt get to spend them due to work making me travel for 2 months. “I will never again be below the curve” is some elitist sounding bs as if you need to be hyper prepped to be good at this game in any of its content. None of any of this excuses the focusing cost for certain items that are not exotics to be 20k-100k glimmer and then have to spend a hour farming lost sectors and planet materials to get just 50k of that back.

Regardless, the means to get anything in this game is reachable and very much attainable. Cores? Do the daily LS Prisms? See above Exotic Engrams? See above Alloys? See above Glimmer? Go do a patrol, open some damn chests, do so bounties on the planet, collect rss nodes. Also, no shock here but LS chest gives glimmer too. Shards? Yeah.... that's a bit different. Go do a GM with an lfg group. It isn't that hard. I'm sitting on 15 atm with 4 ciphers. You can play as little as 2 or 3 hours and do all of this. GM NF is like 20 minutes. You can nail a few of those of. LS like 10-15 minutes. You got time to raid and do dungeons you got time to do this.

Time is a huge issue with me in my personal life and honestly i rather spending it doing a dungeon or raid then than running patrol for hours just to be able to afford a single focus for a IB weapon. I swear either my game is glitched or bugged because i can get 3k from a lost sector and only recieve like half of that. Honestly we shouldnt have had to put on a ghost mod to begin with.

I understand I have more time than others to play but utilizing time spent is very important to me. Quickest and easiest way to get glimmer is patrol farming. You'll get more from PH in the daily Ergo Sum section. Just so much more than any other activity. Patrols = Glimmer/Cores/Rep LS = Alloy/Prism/Cores GM NF = Prism/Cores/Shards My brother, you can overcome it.
