To expand on what someone else said, a lot of the reason life seems longer when you’re younger is because your brain pays attention to life a lot more since more of the experiences are new ones, so it feels like you’re doing more in a given amount of time (say, a week). When you’re older and life starts becoming more monotonous, your brain pays less attention to those monotonous things, so if you spend your week doing only monotonous things then it will feel like less happens in that week. Your brain doesn’t need to pay attention to your commute to work, or your work, or your evenings watching TV, so by the end of the week a lot has happened but your brain didn’t pay attention to any of it, so it feels like the week flew by.

I was milling about talking to my friend Steve, he is in a band, and he said I need to think more like an eagle. They fly high in the sky every day but still pay attention to the most minute details, like a fish jumping out of the sea.
-
That’s what mundane looks like for the eagle. I’m sure if they had the capacity, some of them would be depressed about only hunting every day for their entire life when us humans get to do other things like dance in a club or play Xbox. It all boils down to knowing that you’re in a certain position and understanding why. Your attitude and mindset has developed in the background over decades, so trying to think differently ‘just like that’ is pretty pointless. But what you CAN do is change your actions. You know the things you do all day every day; well those are the things that’ve led you here. So if you don’t like where here is, try and change things up a bit and see what happens. Experiment. Your mind will change on its own.
-
I believe the eagle isn’t particularly bothered doing its daily hunts. It is in its purpose
-
If that’s the case then perhaps you are in your purpose doing all the things you’re doing and feeling all the things you’re feeling. Entropy exists; of course a being with self-consciousness is gonna feel bad when they realise it applies to them as much as anything else.

Maybe I should spend more time providing shoes and food to kids in need. Maybe not
