Both legendary. Both can be a long grind. Both being sunset. The only difference is for some reason you are ok with one being sunset but not the other. The disappointment you feel over the invalidated time investement for,and subsequent attatchment to, your ritual/pinnacle grinds can be just as painful for random rolls nonritual legendaries. Most likely you hold this double standard because you buy their power creep excuse and dont, personally, feel as invested in your nonritual gear as others are. Maybe you havent tried to grind out a rng godroll but it can be just as time consuming and frustrating. Sometimes it can take even longer than some ritual missions! In fact if anything would be creating "power creep" it would be rituals since they often have unique and powerful rolls. But tl;dr yeah, theyre basically the same thing. Especially in the sense that any argument you can make in favor of not sunsetting rituals can be made for non rituals..

  • You are absolutely right. I said that I understand why regular legendary weapons are being sunset. And agree.. I’m sick of them. Get them the hell out of my face.. I’ll explain.. (Keep) Pinnacle Ritual Raid Strike Specific Rewards (Sunset) Event Weapons Seasonal Weapons Loot Pool Legendary Weapons. I also said I don’t agree with sunsetting pinnacle and ritual weapons. Fact. I do not view all legendary weapons as equal. I can’t make that any clearer. Do not.. Don’t. Can’t. Won’t. That’s my opinion. And a very strong opinion. That has already been stated. It’s clear we don’t agree. I don’t mind if you think differently. It’s actually welcomed. We all have opinions that are gathered from our experiences with this game.. and they are not going to be the same. Who am I to tell you you’re wrong for having that opinion? Even if I don’t agree. Now.. That would be contradictory.

Again there is not a single argument in favor of keeping rituals that doesnt apply to regular legendaries. And furthermore if you actually believe the power creep excuse then that logically applies MORE to rituals than regular legendaries. So to absolve rituals while still oking regular weapon sunsetting is a double standard opinion that isnt logically consistent at all.

Agree with Demiurge here mate. Though there are shades of grey with many things, Sunsetting is a black and white for me; You're either for it for everything or against it for everything - because that's the way Bungie will play this. I'll concede there's an argument for weapons but not armour but to me, i see legendaries as one loot pool, regardless of quality or method of acquisition. Personally I'm against it either way. I understand the arguments for gear retirement but i play D2 over games like division or borderlands because of being able to take my gear with me as i improve. In any business you want to create a point of difference, a reason to choose your product over the competition, then celebrate and promote that point of difference in order to stand out amongst the rest. When was the last time you heard a telecoms provider saying: "Come and pay us your money for services the same as all the rest?" So no, to me it's not only awful to players who've invested masses of their spare time into getting gear they need but it reeks of professional incompetence from nearly every business standpoint. Lastly; the power creep argument is generally considered null and void due to the fact they aren't applying sunset rules to exotics, pretty much invalidating the point. So we're left with a reduction in loot pool just for sheer size - understandable for console, little sense for PC.

  • Yet, raid loot is not being sunset.. I do not see the logic.
