Eh, I've seen enough to believe it's happening to a very small number of people. A vast majority of the complaints, 99.9%, are people confusing crashes and errors resulting from those crashes with bricking their console but that's just how these things work. Either way, I've read one or two reddit post and other places where people talk about their console getting bricked, actually bricked, and I can definitely believe it's happening.
