Since you are all such educated gamers, let Varvatos enlighten you...
Crashing: when a system does a hard shutdown that corrupts database, can be repaired
Bricking: when a system is improperly jailbroken and the boot sequence is permanently corrupted, corrupting server data and irreversibly destroying save data. PS4 will not turn on, Sony cannot recover anything. PS4 becomes good for only firewood.
If your PS4 can still turn on, it is not bricked. Only crashed. Applications (like games) cannot brick a PS4. It’s impossible
PS, Sony is refusing most refunds for Anthem

Anthem will be a good game in 2 years everyone, you just have to wait

16 RespuestasSo how much are Bioware and EA paying you?
-
Please stop trying to defend another EA screw-up

Despite the issues (and yes, there are MANY) I'm sticking it out with the anthem. Just got the reever vinyl... My ranger is looking fresh af.
-
2 RespuestasIn all seriousness my Xbox One died while I was playing Anthem.

3 Respuestas
PS, Sony is refusing most refunds for Anthem
Figured this would happen. This whole situation smells like a bug in the PS4 system software. A buggy program can crash its own operation....can lock up a machine. But shouldn't be able to trigger a full shutdown and emergency reboot features. It shouldn't even have access to those functions.

My friends PS4 bricked from anthem, he tried fixing the system, but to no avail. Sony even have him a refund for his digital purchase, and the conversation went like this (according to him): Sony customer service: Hello? Friend: Hi, can I get a refund for my digital purchase of anthem? SCS: sure, what was your account name? Friend: (inserts account name) SCS: thank you we’ll get you your money back within the next 5 business days. Friend: Thanks! (End call)

1 RespuestaI don't know why all you guys are stuck on Anthem when Star Wars Republic Commando is free on Xbox 360 and Xbox One
-
1 RespuestaEh, I've seen enough to believe it's happening to a very small number of people. A vast majority of the complaints, 99.9%, are people confusing crashes and errors resulting from those crashes with bricking their console but that's just how these things work. Either way, I've read one or two reddit post and other places where people talk about their console getting bricked, actually bricked, and I can definitely believe it's happening.
-
2 RespuestasI think it was designed to brick your console because the game sucked so bad they were embarrassed.
-
4 RespuestasAt least the PS4 has a glorious death... right?😏
-
3 RespuestasThis message was brought to you by BioWare. Welcome to Anthem! Where you’ll regret all the awful things you said about Destiny 2!
-
4 RespuestasYou are indeed correct, as explained by this Sony employee on a Reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/AnthemTheGame/comments/axhh4t/i_work_for_sony_in_customer_service_i_am_not/ Quote
No console has been bricked. None. Zip. Zero. People are just don’t understand how to turn the PS4 back on and rebuild a database. There is a real issue and it NEEDS to be fixed. But making false claims doesn’t help anything or anyone. Anthem isn’t going to brick your console.
Quote
Again there are no bricked PS4s. This system is very well designed and doesn’t brick. People just toss around the term without understanding it.
Quote
Maybe tomorrow all you people will wake up and realize how stupid all this is and stop letting click bait journalism create mass hysteria.
11 RespuestasStill not buying a game that crashes yout system.

1 RespuestaEditado por FdYAcsoyPKN83gLE: 3/6/2019 2:55:22 AMOkay, so Anthem does not "brick" your console, it technically "BREAKS" your console.
-
Don't have to ask for a refund for something you never buy
-
1 RespuestaI did wonder how the hell a game could brick a console.
-
Runs fine on the x
-
Regardless I'm still never getting Anthem after this whole fiasco. Look I have no problem with people enjoying the game, but now that I know this is and was a thing I'll never get it out of my head. Even if BioWare claims to fix the bug I won't be able to convince myself to get it
-
Editado por CAD1420Z: 3/6/2019 12:29:18 AMPeople overreacted. Doesn't mean Anthem isn't a bad game still.
PS4 becomes good for only firewood.
And now you've advocating burning plastics, metals, and glass? Dude. Why?
-
I never even knew that repairing the database was even a concern or whatever. I’ve done that on my PS4 dozens of times. It’s not more than a slight waste of time.
-
So just to be sure the only thing I really have to worry about rebuilding the database because of anthem.
-
In this case, I actually have to agree with you. I think there's only one confirmed case of a console actually suffering complete failure, but for the most part it's just an overheating issue on the PS4. Still not a good thing but not some crazy PS4 apocalypse that it's being made out to be. As for the Anthem being refunded thing, someone did mention getting a refund so there might be some truth to the Anthem refund part.
-
This... this is true actually. I highly doubt anthem is actually bricking consoles tbh. Heck, Apex Legends has crashed like 10 times for me >_<
