Really? Fallout, warframe, des ex, and uncharted are all shooters.
Batman , fallout, witcher, rocket league, skyrim, final fantasy, guessing walking dead, dishonored 2. are all action/adventure
Edit: plus don't event get me started on skyrim. Bethesda had no ideas on good games so they just brought forward an old game...great

Those are all incredibly vague. You might as well call them all walkers, since each game has a walking mechanic. In terms of shooters, they can be: -first person -third person -cover-based -looter -survival -horror Or a mix. In terms of action/adventure...well most games fit into that. You can't really say that God of War and Don't Starve and Fallout 4 are all similar, yet they are all technically action/adventure.

Editado por Nnoremac: 12/1/2016 12:32:25 AMlol it's not vague..it's the genre listed for the game.. I will say I was wrong on rocket league, it's a sports game
-
Well in that case there are only like 4 genres: Action/Adventure Shooter Puzzle/Platformer Racing
-
False, do you not know genres?
-
Go ahead and name them
-
Editado por Nnoremac: 12/1/2016 12:37:57 AMYou have rpg, sports, mmo, shooter, action adventure, strategy, survival, sandbox (or simulation), then also just action or just adventure. Plus a few others Now it's possible for a game to fit in multiple genres. Like fallout is a shooter, action/adventure. But that doesn't change that it is a shooter still Edit: and heck fallout might even be an rpg game as well
-
Those classifications might have worked in the 90s, but games are much more diverse now. Where would a game like The Witness fit in there?
-
Editado por Nnoremac: 12/1/2016 12:43:11 AMThey are no more diverse now, Idk why you would think that. And a simple Google will tell you what it is Edit: it says the witness is a puzzle game. A genre that I left out sure but if you find it in a store I'm guessing strategy section
-
What about something like fallout, it can fit into many of the genres you mentioned? Also, games usually only list a single genre for pragmatic reasons, tho they often fit into many more.
-
What about them? They don't create a new genre just because a game is a collection of multiple genres. This isn't tumblr genders where a new one pops up every day. They list the most obvious genre sure. But that's why there is a thing called the internet
-
My point was that a game like Fallout can fit into many of those genres, and you said that most games are only from 2-3 of the genres. It seems like your gripe is actually the prevalence of shooters amongst other genres.
-
I said most games this year fit into 2-3 genres, which is true. There is no griping here. Games like fallout are multiple genres, but still the 2-3 that have always been out this year.
-
I mean, Fallout could easily fit into: -Shooter (both FPS and TPS) -Action (and fighter) -Adventure -Strategy (RTS and base building) -RPG -Sandbox -Survival
-
Editado por Nnoremac: 12/1/2016 1:21:55 AMFalse, fallout fits into really just a shooter, action and adventure, and rpg. You really are listing some things that aren't even really genres. And idk what you are trying to say. I said shooter and action/adventure, fallout is 2 of those, only proving my point Also base building is not strategy. Even though you have to use it to max your happiness
-
So in Starcraft, Civilization, etc. you have a modular set of buildings which cost resources that you farm, and you organize your units, etc and place defences. You do the exact same thing in Fallout when base building. What if that is all you do in Fallout? You would be playing a strategy game (granted a poorly designed and really easy one).
-
Lol no you don't at all, that is totally grasping at straws dude. In civ you build more than just a base, you plan places around the world, taking over others, and plan your technologies. Even the thought of you trying to compare that to something like the drag and drop base building in fallout is just sad
