I'm having trouble busting 300 light, cos none of my friends play Destiny and I've never done a raid.

Iron banner you will get decent drops.

Power level your factions, that alone can get you to 330. Plus you'll get stuff from strikes/crucible/PoE, it's pretty nice. I got to at least 332 on all my characters doing it, and I started at 300-310

Farm CoE to get to about 317 light using the blues awarded on weeks that are precision bonus, then use rep packages to get to 330. After that it's unfortunately iron banner, CoE score packages and exotics to level up when playing solo. FWI I have never raided and reached 335 on one and almost all of my characters

Use Destiny LFG, be honest about your capabilies, you would be surprised how many players enjoy serving as Sherpas for players new to the raids. Being that the latest raid is getting a little old now, you might have a hard time finding people but they will be there and once you get ready of RoI raid it will be easy to find people to raid with. Hit the legendary strikes and dropToC for every boss except in the Dust Palace and Ominigal Strikes (They don't count as Majors or ultras). That can help you increase your light and once you get to (I think 320?) you can do the Night-fall and PoE which CAN provide some decent rewards as well. PvP also has options that can increase your light. GOOD LUCK.

Cheers dude, I guess the only reason I haven't experimented with lfg is because I'm not sure about doing a raid with compete strangers.

I can understand that trust me I can, I will not lie doing it blind with strangers is hit and miss, some groups expect you to magically know how to do the raid and can be rude, others however have been very helpful as long as you don't go full retard on them they will help you through. I am in a similar boat, I do the raid but maybe one character, once every two or three weeks, my issue is not a lack of real and online friends that play, but rather my work schedule. Good luck whatever path you select.
