Neither way is wrong. Anyone who claims otherwise is simply spouting biased nonsense. Both methods yield success and utilize the core raid mechanics of the encounter. No foul play is involved. I've yet to hear anything about a lag switch or a solar grenade involved in an Oryx strategy... LOL
