So, beat Oryx last night without the strat. Read about and watched the no knight strat and whaddya know everyone on lfg is using it today when I decide to finish up on my hunter. So I'm like, "Cool I've seen this strat, its gonna be easy!" Well, 10 lfg random groups later and Oryx isn't dead. For the first couple hours I shake it off no problem, just random weird mistakes happening. Funny thing is, these weird little mistakes KEEP happening. Finally I find a group not using this strategy(been trying to convince other teams to do it normal way for about an hour.) And voila, we beat it.
So my question is, how many of you beat Oryx with the "no knight" strategy? On paper the strategy looks so fool proof. In practice its seems that there's always that one little weird death/mistake that happens.
Edit: So three "no knight" completions later and my outlook on "no knights" is different. I have beat hard mode three times killing the knights and three times without. There are a couple nuances that make the strategy very viable if applied. First is, if you are taking a platform, sit down and don't throw a grenade, fire a shot, nothing. Let the floaters do all the dps on the ogres and they wont fire at you. As soon as the relic runner has the relic, jump to the platform and get safe asap. Once the stagger is complete, 5 second count down. The ogres should die the second the countdown ends, not before. Jump down, detonate bombs, rinse and repeat. Did this with two random groups last night. Killed Oryx in 2 trys for the first group and three for the second. This method when applied cuts the time the team is at risk by alot. Anyway, we'll see which way wins out in the end. Good luck guardians!
On a side note, has anyone looked over the edge and noticed how small Oryx's feet are?

3 RespuestasI was coming on here to rant about how I hate this strat and I will never do it again. I tried normal way once with a group and holy shit, we melted the ogres and the knights like butter in seconds, then something stupid happened (I think we missed the 4th knight or something and someone died) and we had to wipe, then awww man let's go back to using no knights. I was like ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?!? Killing that ogre and knight was a piece of cake. If we did it the normal way for THREE HOURS like we have been doing the no knights, we'd be as proficient as we are with the stupid -blam!-ing no knight strategy. Literally I've beaten hard mode once out of 150 no knight tries. Yesterday was it for me. I was like -blam!- it, I got my emblem, I'm a 314 with all my good shit equipped, I will never do that shit again. I am so relieved to see people on here condemning this stupid strategy. I will look forward to doing the raid with a group of you THE NORMAL WAY in the weeks to come.

I've done both so it don't matter to me as long as it gets done
-
1 RespuestaBeat oryx with the no knight strat in 20 minutes last tuesday, only 4 alive after the last teleport. Took us 4 attempts, even had to wait a bit for a 6th player after someone left after the second attempt. They're really equally easy/hard. It's all about the team's communication and each individual's skills.
-
Did it killing the knights. We put one guy up on the daughter plate with a spindle to help
-
I did it in around 14 minutes ish 4th or 5th go
-
I've done it both ways and doing it the normal is indeed easier. I was playing with some people earlier that were doing the no knight strategy. We died a couple of time and I suggested doing it the normal way. That said that no knight was easier. So I asked, if it's easier, why do we keep whining? It's weird; the things that were killing them were the ogres and add. The exact things that the normal method kills!
-
Tiny feet indeed. No knight strat is "mostly" scrubs looking to get carried. Don't expect good things fron groups running that strat. Also any group that needs a bubble titan for dps is probably gonna be a pain as well. There will be exceptions of course bit most of these groups are just looking for a way to do something they can't do in the first place. Expect some scared player to detonate his bomb early and kill a couple people. It's gonna happen.

Editado por DeanPet2014: 10/30/2015 3:50:25 PMproblem is that's the only way anyone knows now. I beat it first time using normal strat. Have not beat it since as all groups go back to no knights strat and after 3 hours or sometimes just 15 minutes leave! FU Youtube uploaders of this crap! What I think - how about we put 4 on the plates - kill the other guys ogre and the knight and one guy clear ads. How hard can that be - its not!
-
5 RespuestasIt's much easier having everyone on the plates kill the Knights, from what I'm hearing this "No Knight Strategy" sounds extremely stupid. I beat hard mode oryx 10 times total without using that "strategy" so it's just as easy doing the way it was intended to be performed rather than making up a bullsh1t strategy like that!
-
No knight strat is for noobs scared of a ogre and a knight !
-
A good team with communication is all u need.
-
I have done both and i prefer the no knight because i am on adds 95% of the time and when down on the ground they want you to shoot ogres but if someone on a platform dies from adds its my fault, but if i am shooting adds and the ogres/knights are not down fast enough its my fault again.

Editado por sergantsnipes05: 10/30/2015 7:33:59 AMI've done both. Both require randoms to stay alive. If you do it normal way you kind of need two Titans. You have them sit in the bottom middle with weapons and blessings and they absolutely melt the ogres with ToM
-
Sounds like your fireteam to me. Both solid strats the key is communication
-
Out of all my cleats I have never completed it with the no knight strat. All randoms. Just never clicked.
-
Beat it with 2 diff lfg groups. Didnt take long at all. Not hard
-
Both are the same difficulty. Difference is both strategies were practiced by 50% of the community. The only strat that is full proof is teamwork without that no strategy will win. With that all shall be conquered.
-
Done it both ways... still not sure which one I prefer, as long as I complete it. On a side note it would be nice to get a primary weapon from hard mode :/
-
Editado por T3N4C1OUS: 10/30/2015 5:07:33 AMIt is a shitty strat.. Idk why people do it that way w/ more risk instead of just doing it the right way. In my experience most no knight groups just aren't that good.. But if you have the skilled players/gear normal strat w/ the 2 floaters up top is the best. Had multiple no death hard Oryx kills vs. Hours and hours of "we're so good, this strat is cake" epic fail groups. I now refuse to join groups and make my own w/ strict requirements. Generally kill him in 20 minutes or so. I guess people just can't kill the ogres and easy knights? The only reason I can think of.. Cuz we clear every enemy on the map and usually still have time to spare for synths or zombie dancing.

3 RespuestasSo there's the problem, you just "beaten" it last night for the first time with no concept of how it works. #endthread
-
Ive beaten hard raid with both strats. The problem with the strat is that everyone thinks its a guarantee oryx kill. Its not. When lfg groups get together and they run this strat, someone isnt top tier playing because they think its a cake walk. It is, but u gotta have a good team. Its not the strat, its the group. No knights is easier, a lot but doing it normal is more fun. Harder too so people gotta be A1. Hate to admit it, but even if u ran the normal strat u wouldnt have gotten it done. It all boils down to the team not a strat, not one that everyone knows works atleast.
-
Beat it Friday before the Strat existed and then beat it Tuesday using the strat. Both have their pros and cons.
-
2 Respuestas"if you are taking a platform, sit down and don't throw a grenade, fire a shot, nothing. Let the floaters do all the dps on the ogres and they wont fire at you." This is exactly where people are making mistakes with this strat. And absolutely the reason they aren't able to complete the fight using the no knight strat. When this tip in use, the fight is way less risky.
-
5 times with no knight strat, one time with bubble and tom strat, it just depends on the team
-
We've done both. As long as the team is well coordinated they both work eventually.

3 RespuestasThis is the best way. We came up with it yesterday https://youtu.be/wyoU34yJVPc
