Why does loading into the tower take forever. An it only seems to be getting worse. I thought the whole point of vaulting content was to ease the strain on load times yet everything seems to be taking longer and longer.

2 RepliesCongrats hehe. You found a way for ppl to brag about their new gen consoles without even mentioning a platform. Just goes to prove ppl only think about themselves. Nicely done
-
Loading anything takes ages. But the inventory when you start a strike and want to change weapons or class is embarrassing

Vaulting content I really believe is because they're to lazy to updated content not to ease strain. I mean realistically there isn't much content in Destiny. It's repeatable same content. Look at games like The Elder Scrolls Online and WoW. Do you see how many different areas those games have. It's just always puzzling to me when Bungie removes destinations when the reality is they're not that big to begin with. Maybe they need to learn how to compress their files or get different engine. The other thing is the population of the game really isn't that great which is another reason they vault content. They can't fill up every single area.

Crossplay.

1 ReplyWhat's your idea of "taking forever"? After clicking "Launch" for the Courtyard, I started timing and it took 36.73 seconds to reach the tower. That includes the 3 second countdown. Doesn't feel any longer than it did before.
-
Bungie is clearly incompetent and lost control over their legacy code base long ago. They don't have any developers left.
-
It does seem to be a bit slow lately. Odd thing is, these particular times it seems to load me into a completely vacant tower.
-
3 RepliesSometimes it takes minutes and I know it isn't my connection. We had a similar problem once before, early 2020. Years of spaghetti code piling up, Bungie isn't putting the resources in to rewrite things. I wonder sometimes how much they really would have needed to vault if they cleaned things up.

5 Replies3 billion investment and this is what we get? - SONY probably

Tower travelling is buggy at the moment. Now this has happened in the past, but it seems travelling to the Tower can cause a handful of players to be stuck in queue until all players who are in that queue are ready to load into the instance. Players joining during queue can extend the time needed to load into the Tower. It's not too bad right now, but when it was first happening, it was taking players 10 minutes to possibly an hour just to load in.
-
When I load in solo it's fast on PS5, but sometimes the tower decides to load in multiple players at the same time, ( not in the same fireteam ) and it's super slow.
-
It usually only takes a really long time when it's loading up a brand new tower instance
-
30 seconds isnt long
-
2 RepliesIt is DEFINITELY taking longer then usual. On ps5 btw
-
4 RepliesCome over to the light and join us on PC where load times are faster, it doesn’t take 1 hours to update the game and the kick on weapons is significantly less
-
7 RepliesIt’s way faster on next gen. Last gen is outdated at this point
-
2 RepliesMaybe get rid of the trash xbox one/PS4 and it will load quicker... 🙄
-
1 ReplyYes I have noticed this. Back to go make a coffee while you flying in.
-
It's not that bad on my end. I play on Xbox one X. It's an improvement compared to one x or og Xbox but probably not as fast as next gen. It's nowhere near as bad as pre beyond light. It took way longer for me. Tower load times are pretty reasonable.

Edited by reenry: 4/12/2022 5:29:52 AMI think people need to understand that Destiny 2 is now pretty much a next gen game. Not saying that Destiny 2 or majority of current gen games wont be supported going foward because the current gen is still very powerful for the time. But your best experience will either be on PC or next gen consoles. Gaming is being built around the better tech. Hell a PS5 or series X can beat my PC sometimes in loading times. And I have a good PC

3 RepliesBungie state of the art tech, FIVE BILLION USD worth 🤣
-
That is what vaulting is for but there’s going to be points where it’s worse than others. We got kind of a lot compared to what we lost this year but if your on a legacy console you could swap the hdd for an ssd, loads of videos on YouTube for how and dad’s aren’t an investment you’d regret. Could also take it out when you upgrade in the future and do something else with it

1 ReplyEdited by AdligerAdler: 4/12/2022 1:15:28 AMIt takes forever when you meet like a dozen other players in space and fly together with them to the Tower. Pay attention to how many people spawn with you. It's like the game is sometimes waiting for others to join the group of people that fly to the Tower.
