Our focus this week is a PvE Princess. She sings, she dances, and she kicks ass in some of Destiny’s most challenging content. You’ll find her most evenings helping other Guardians run through Destiny Raids while having some laughs with her viewers.
Would you like to know more? Good, because we sat down with Sarah to ask her a few questions. Here’s what we found out.
Welcome! Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do in the Destiny Community
SD: Hi! I'm Sarah Daniels (clearly) and I have been gaming all my life. It all started with the Sega Genesis, and when Final Fantasy VII came out, I was completely hooked. Outside of streaming, I'm a singer, actor, and dancer. I’ve toured the country and have been in television shows and commercials.Destiny was the first game I ever streamed. I couldn't believe people wanted to watch someone who was average at the game play through Raids and PvE content. I realized that represents a vast amount of the community, and it's extremely relatable. I think it makes viewers more comfortable to run Raids with me, I just love to make new friends and help people through content that many players never get to explore. Making people laugh and having fun in a positive environment is what our community is all about!
You’re a triple threat! Where can we find you on the internet?
7 nights a week? No rest for the wicked. What is your favorite Subclass and weapon?
SD: I've been a Hunter since day one and I still can't get enough. I remember the first time I used a tether as a Nightstalker. My brain pretty much exploded. I feel like Robin Hood every time. Well, my shot isn't as good as his, but you get the picture. My favorite weapon has to be the Burning Eye. I’m absolutely not a PvP player so I already feel lucky to have it, and it's just the most incredible weapon for PvE encounters. A sensible headshot and enemies drop like flies (or Shanks)!
The Burning Eye is great for blinding enemy snipers. You said you were an actor. How did you first get into streaming?
SD: It was fate! I was in rehearsals at Disneyland for the new Frozen musical and pulled out my Legend of Zelda wallet when my friend Chris (also a streamer, ChrisSpeaketh) was like “WAIT. You game? Do you stream!?” and I was like “Wait, what?” And he pulled a laptop out of his bag, literally made me an account on Twitch, linked me to the camera to buy, and that was the beginning of the best journey of my life!
Nice of your friend to nudge you into streaming. What kind of shenanigans can we expect to see on your channel?
SD: I feel like shenanigans is the best way to describe playing with me. Our community has named me the “PvE Princess” (mostly because of my past at Disney where I portrayed a mermaid, a fairy, and an ice queen among others for nearly 12 years). I generally Raid 7 nights a week (King’s Fall OP), unless someone convinces me to do PvP, and every time we Raid I do raffles for Raid spots. I get to make new friends and help out players who don't have regular Raid teams. From there, it's just a laugh fest. I definitely make mistakes and end up being the reason we reset quite often. We make bad jokes, we make each other laugh, and we get loot. At the end of the day, as long as everyone is having fun playing the game, I'm happy!
You made it out to the Destiny 2 Premiere. Did you have a good time? What did you think of the game?
SD: *Sings* I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE!
It was such a fantastic event. I was thrilled to be invited, and the gameplay was worth the trip. The game, from what I've seen so far, is the perfect next step in Destiny. I love that it has a similar look and feel but there are slight differences that make such a huge impact. Playing on PC was such a treat as well. The graphics are magical and the Blizzard announcement had me screaming because my mom plays World of Warcraft and I knew she would be so down for D2. The new Warlock jump feels so smooth and that Dawnblade... are you kidding me!? The new Guided Games feature is going to be HUGE for my Raid squad. We love to help people through Raids if they've never been through before, and being able to do it in game had my jaw to the floor (as you can see in this hilarious photo of me gawking at Destiny 2 at the premiere ).
We are approaching the end of the show. Anything else you would like to add before we wrap up?
SD: This game and this community have truly changed my life. I know, it sounds so cheesy, but as a female gamer I've always had a hard time finding my community and Destiny has given me a place to flourish. Being a performer and auditioning full time can be so insanely stressful, but now I know every night I get to sit down with the fam, laugh, and kill some of my favorite Raid bosses. Thank you to you and DeeJ and everyone at Bungie and Activision for building such a wonderful community that has made me and countless others feel so welcome. Special thanks to my incredible Raid squad Vinnie, Zuni, Chantos, and Spyke. And Gothalion. And Datto. Okay, I'm done for real!
And thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and chat with us. We always love hearing stories about experiences in the Destiny community and friendships built here.
Make sure you go and drop by SarahDaniels' stream to say hi. Maybe you can even join her for a Raid.
