Finally some mention of Osiris!
Crucible Gametypes: Trials of Osiris (Skirmish): 3v3. You have caught the eye of Osiris. Venture to Mercury and prove yourself as one of the Crucible’s elite. Only the worthy may face the Trials of Osiris, for only the worthy are strong enough to endure what is to come. A string of victories will earn great rewards – but lose three times and you’re out.
Osiris might not be present in the Tower (and hasn't been so much as we have seen thus far), but does this hint that they are based out of Mercury? What role would they serve that the 'best-of-the-best' would try and prove their worth? Any thoughts?

 • I'm not sure if Osiris is a faction anymore to be honest. They seem to have more similarities to the Iron banner than the FWC, New Monarchy, or Dead Orbit. Similar to the Iron Banner the Trials of Osiris give out rewards (I'm thinking like Timur's Lash and the space bus from the beta). The rewards are trophies from the Trials of Osiris.
Go to http://www.destinydb.com/items and type in "of the exile". The Osiris gear pops up. Also there are weapons that are all legendary, they are: jewel of osiris, the exiles curse, eye of sol, astral horizon, the messenger, the scholar, the infinite theorem, and tomorrows answer. Lastly there is an exotic scout rifle the fate of all fools that you get from completing 3 tests/bounties. The 1st one is performing feats of skill in the crucible. The 2nd is 10 wins on a ticket or 25 total in the trials. The last one is getting headshots, kills, and killing sprees with a scout rifle in the crucible. Another interesting thing is that the hunter gear is the only gear that has the osiris colors. The warlock and titans is just plain white. This could just be because the game was in beta but it could be something that becomes important. From all of this info you could take it a few ways about what osiris's motive is. The references to the exile could be referring to the awoken. I've heard that the awoken originated from humans exposed to radiation pre golden age in the reef. Possibly the awoken were outcast from society then which caused them to band together into osiris (possibly). Their home could be the Reef since that is mainly awoken and they have a queen. Also if you stood next to the cryptarch long enough he would say a line like dead oryx king, dead oryx king, dead oryx king, 3 words in 9 word bursts must be osiris. Maybe the king spoken of is/was the king of the reef. To add to this there is a mission reward shard of the shrine and a bounty eye of oryx. Some final help to this theory would be that osiris is the god of the afterlife and the awoken are referred to as looking dead. Another theory could be that Osiris champions guardians. So far the factions have tried to stop the darkness whether it is running from them (dead orbit), protecting ourselves (monarchy), or a war (FWC). Osiris could think that the guardians fighting the darkness is the solution. Maybe when the FWC means war it includes non guardians like citizens of the city fighting as well. Also guardians did come back from the dead like osiris in mythology which strengthens this idea even more. Also so far osiris has the best gear of any faction with the only exotic weapon, which could mean that they support guardians. Also from reading the item descriptions I get a sense of exactness or precision that I also get from the best of the best in the trials description. And the fact that the exotic gun is a scout rifle also makes me think that it is another example of precision. This is similar to how the Iron Banner is all about strength. So I would guess that in the trials of osiris level advantages are turned off and maybe you aren't allowed to go in as a team if it is focused on skill. This would stop you from bringing in a team that would destroy everyone else just to get some of the best loot in the game. Any other ideas on what all of this means?
• If I remember correctly Osiris has been said to be a person. I imagine he will serve a similar role to Saladin but with less frequency than the iron banner. Perhaps organizing teams to face the trials of Osiris could become a viable purpose for our group when destiny launches.
