https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=261ENQaCzNo Hi I'm DarkColaClassic and I want this to be a collective of friends who get together regularly and try to become legend. I've played the hell out of the beta, and I loved it! But the one thing that was missing was a community, a group of like-minded guardians who have your back, who can communicate, strategize or who you can just joke around with.I believe this is the game that I've been waiting for all my life, so regardless of skill level, age, sex or anything else, if you love this game like I do I want to play with you. I want to experience everything that destiny has to offer but I especially want to conquer raids. With teamwork and a little luck, I know we can make it through. The Vault of glass awaits. So whether you can take out a Devil Walker single headedly, or are just getting your boots wet in old Russia, we want you. We're not just fighting for humanity; we're making friends and having fun.

How Raid lockouts might work

I've been dieing for destiny news and I thought this was ok. It might not be accurate but it's a logical assumption. Enjoy.

When i first read about lockout it was in the lastest weekly update, which states: "Obtaining loot from a given encounter means that character is not eligible to receive loot from the same encounter again in a given calendar week. This is often referred to as a "Lockout." I italicized “character” above, because if you have multiple Raid-ready characters, you can run the Raid again on a different character - and the Lockout isn't applied to it. Each encounter has a fixed inventory of items it can award to players, e.g., certain pieces of gear or weapons can only drop from certain encounters. " That first part "character is not eligible to receive loot from the same encounter again in a given calendar week." does not seem to suggest you can't come across the same "encounter" again (in other words fight the same boss again). It does seem like a wired way to suggest you can't fight the same bosses again in a given week, but I understood it to mean you can do the raid agian, but won't get loot from the ones you already have in that given week (for each character). Or i might be wrong. As datto said he might have gotten it incorrect, but he's trying to get some sort of clarification now.

    • Like night stalker has said, datto's description is spot on, with regards to other MMO raid lockouts. I would take the majority of the video as truth, as I believe that it won't be too different in Destiny

    • If it's anything like WoW (Which I have played for years now) each player will be assigned to a specific Raid ID# once they clear a boss in the raid. This means that this person is now saved to this specific instance of the raid and they cannot join a new raid that still has any previous bosses up. This also means that any players who wish to join you in your raid will have to skip any bosses that you have already downed. But probably the biggest thing about raid lockouts is that all members of the raid group usually share the SAME raid ID. This means that if one of those individuals continues the raid with 5 brand new people, when the previous 5 go back into the raid then they will lose out on any progress that the previous member completed with the five new members. I know it's a little confusing and I may even be wrong, but I'm just going off of how WoW does their raid lockouts.
