Why do you have trouble in the crucible?
I'm not being a dick I'm just generally curious why some people have a lot of trouble with it. I find with the aim assist and high control over movement, this is one of the easiest FPS pvps to get good at. When I see people going 0.05-0.3 in the crucible I'm usually dumbfounded that someone can be that bad.
Is it the aiming? Are you using under powered weapons? Do you not understand how to engage? Reflexes?
Again, not being an asshole, I'm just genuinely looking for reasons.
EDIT: I'm trying to reply to everyone and give tips but the replies are pouring in so might take me some time. Thanks for the responses either way!
EDIT: I feel bad about this shameless plug but I think it could help some people. Check out my YouTube channel GreatWhitNorth if you want to see how I approach my pvp engagements. I generally am very passive and it comes across in the gameplay. If anyone has specific questions about something they see in my videos I'll be happy to answer

Mine is down to lag Pvp in this game is the worst lag I have seen

2 RepliesPvE is like baseball. Lots of patience. Slow and steady wins the race. PvP is like football. Lots of Pressure. Quick decisions and outsmarting your opponent wins the race. Some people don't like football

3 RepliesMine, if anything, is just a lack of time invested into PvP. In COD, my KD was usually at least 1.5-2.0, and on Black Ops 2, I had a 2.67 KD with the FAMAS, so I have experience playing PvP, but it's hard for me to get into the PvP mindset because I spend every moment in PvE. Like my 32 Titan has NEVER entered a crucible match. So my mindset is being cautious and staying back, while PvP is all about quick reactions and being in the fight. Plus I was the kind of guy to turn off my killstreaks in COD just to make it more entertaining, not the guy who will just do anything for a kill.

I can think of three reasons: 1. I like close quarters combat, so I usually use a pulse rifle or melee to get kills. 2. I don't have any raid weapons. 3. I am stoned.

Most people that aren't good at pvp suffer from one or more of these issues: 1. Connection. The person with the better connection has more of a buffer between his actions and his opponents. 2. Reaction time. Plain an simple, the person who reacts quicker has a large advantage. 3. Accuracy. After reacting to an opponent, you then have to accurately hit them with a weapon at range. For some this is more difficult than others. 4. Weaponry. Simply put, some weapons are more powerful than others. Thoughts?

1 ReplyBecause I suck and that's all there is to it. I always shoot too late. Reflexes are not as fast anymore
-
2 RepliesI don't struggle:)

1 ReplyI do decent in crucible. One thing that baffles me is the way thorn hits me.. 3 shots I'm dead, and I feel like my thorn doesn't do shit for damage. Like 5-6 shots.. Unless they are head shotting me across the map on the run everytime.. Then I guess cool lol.

I don't get how people can be bad at Destiny's PvP either. The Crucible is so easy to pick up and play. As long as you can aim and have a decent mind for tactics you should do fine. The pace of combat is so slow and player assists are so high that when you compare Destiny's combat alongside a game such as CoD: AW it's nowhere near as fast or challenging. When I switch between the two, which rarely happens, I'm blown away at the pace AW's combat moves at. Destiny's competitive multiplayer in comparison with others out there is a cake walk. That's not a complaint either. I like the Crucible for the most part. I have small complaints here and there about it, but overall I enjoy playing it. It probably helps that I tend to do very well in it.

7 RepliesThat's the weird thing with PvP. I can have an awesome game, be the top scorer (mind you, it doesn't happen really often) and the following game I barely get any kills and finish with a K/D of 0.3

1 ReplyBecause I suck at PvP and avoid adding unneeded stress to my life...
-
Cause i suck, now mind your own business :p

5 RepliesDestiny controls are very clunky. It's hard to turn around when someone blinks behind you, it's like having your sensitivity all the way at the minimum, especially while sprinting. It's combat style is easy to get used to as OP said, but the controls is what throws a lot of people, including me, off.

I struggle because Crucible sucks, I came from playing Call of Duty with 1.7+ overall KD and Battlefield with a 1.6 overall KD, this game's PVP is a knock off of Halo, a bad one at that. It's purely connection based and I've played Call of Duty for years with worse Internet and not had near as many connection issues as what I've had with Destiny. The last thing I want to add is that the over shield that the players have is stupid and everyone is able to rock their supers 2-3 times a game, now multiply that by 12 people, it's too much. For now I will stick to PvE and continue to decline my friends invites to play crucible.

3 RepliesThe answer to your question is very simple. Someone has to struggle. Just like every other PvP mode in nearly every other game, there are going to be people who excel and do very well is most all of their matches. And the more people there are doing that, the more people there are struggling. Someone has to be on the receiving end of these kills.

1 ReplyI play another game for my PvP fix. Minimal Aim Assist, no dumbfire anti-infantry rockets, a variety of truly competitive weapons, no stupid -blam!-ing supers, and a leveling system that makes sense, based on items and skills you use and/or choose to invest in. A game that rewards you for winning and punishes you for losing. Crucible - waste of -blam!-ing disc space and resources. Shittiest PvP experience that I can remember (and I remember going head-to-head on Pac-Man cocktail table machines)

1 ReplyThere is a learning curve to crucible. First is maps. Sure some people rock at crucible but they don't even notice that some of it comes down to knowing the map. Where to stand, where not to stand. What travel paths to use or what spots will give you an advantage in cover or angle. Second is style of play. This isn't the plodding strategic pace of Gears of War or the fast twitch shoot and run of CoD. Also it's not Halo. The power weapons aren't set out on the map. Add to that the elements of perfect radar and the height of each players jump and you have created a period of adjustment for players to suddenly deal with. There are a few other factors but I don't want to run on too much.
-
3 RepliesBecause I'm new to PvP. And lag. But not the sort of lag everyone else is complaining about. It's brain to finger lag ;D I'm so busy exploring the maps, that I forget that I have a gun, or grenades, not to speak about supers. I'm so excited and nervous that I even forget how to sprint or jump. Then I die, spawn somewhere else run around disorientated. And die again :D But it's good fun!
-
Because I don't try all that hard, just run around having fun
-
4 RepliesBecause of lag and cheap tatics

Impatience. When I remain calm and play patiently, I usually have a positive kdr. However when I become impatient, I make dumb decisions and die carelessly.

3 Replies2/5 of the most used Primary weapons for Crucible are rare guns. It's map knowledge. As a frequenter of The Crucible, I've acquired a vast amount of muscle memory and reflex based on the map. Player styles change. Weapons change. Supers change. But the players are still gonna have to run through the same doors and the same hallways to get to the same spots of the same maps. PLAY YOUR ENVIRONMENT SMARTLY. Have a super? Wait. Throw it while the other team is QUICKLY capping a point. The faster they're capping it, the more people there are on that point. Camping is different than waiting. Predict where the other team goes. Control? They're gonna try and cap the closest flag to them, and then push B, for the most part, so don't stand right on B where they can see you directly. Wait for them. Stand guard. Play over-watch on that point until they get there. Travel with a buddy. With so much kill trading, 2v1's are very useful in quickly overpowering enemies. Turn your mic on and communicate. If you die next to your buddy from a Golden Gun, scream out "OH! -blam!- me. Golden Gun _________ (Behind, in front, above)." Agility all the way up? Most armor skill trees are futile in Crucible because levels are disabled. So crank that Agility up. You're gonna die in the crucible anyways. But can you run and jump and outmaneuver other people? (Needs Verification. Not totally sure if low armor doesn't effect damage intake) Play smart! Most people rush. It's fun to rush. It's even more fun to rush when you don't die. But it's the most fun when you stay back and pick them off from afar or when they least expect it. Play the map. Learn how players maneuver around certain objects. Learn what caps attract the most attention and which caps put your team at an advantage or disadvantage. Learn where snipers always sit, and where the shotgunners lurk. Keep fighting, Guardian. Every PvP takes time to adjust to. Yes, the servers are sometimes booty. Finish the game, beat the lag, back out and join a new match making party. Not everything is perfect. But everything can be fun. Oh, and don't worry about last place. That's where the most Exotics drop! Lololol.

Blatant latency...by far the worst that I have ever experienced in any game since online gaming. The crucible lets me remember a time when AOL was relevant
