1.1.1 Weapon Changes. Thoughts?

Comments are disabled on the latest update preview post for reasons unknown (more than likely that people were pissed about the nerfs.) My message to bungie is that its like this, you cant just nerf everything then buff pulse rifles and call it fixed. These weapon changes are dumb to say the least. You nerfed the fire rate of auto rifles (the only full auto primaries) to make them more balanced which only hurts players. You then go on to say that you nerf the range and increased the damage fall off on hand cannons stating that "Hand Cannon is optimal at medium range" when the purpose of using one was that you had a long range primary why would you take away the long range on them when that was the main perk of using them? Bungie I really don't think that ANYBODY wants things nerfed nobody has a problem with these weapons being too good. My advice would be to Improve the pulse rifle and leave the other weapons alone. I absolutely LOVE your game and thats exactly why I don't want to see you make changes that will hurt it. I really hope you change your mind about these changes. What does he rest of the community think on this subject?

  • This is a very complicated question. I'd have to see how the weapons will perform in PvE before I can say whether they did it right or wrong. For example if the buffed shotgun damage compensates for the nerfed range, then it would be a good thing. If the nerfed range makes the shotgun even less usable in PvE, then it is a bad thing. Same with the auto. Most autos are pretty bad in the medium to long range and this will make it worse. This wouldn't be that big of an issue if you weren't stuck using only one weapon. Handcannons have the same problem too. Ranges in PvE are on a different scale than ranges in PvP. The furthest you ever have to engage someone in PvP is more like medium range in PvE and so nerfing the handcannon range to eliminate pvp long range, might make these guns very less effective in PvE. To be honest they should have had the stats for PvP and PvE separated from the start. That way they could have buffed the range on the shotgun in PvE (or at least not have nerfed it the first time) and nerfed it in PvP and blancing would be successful, without breaking one of the game modes.
