I'm sorry. An open apology to Hunters.
I thought you guys were just being douchebags when you said your Supers took more skill to use.
I thought you Bladedancers were just lying through your teeth when you said you could be killed easily. Same goes for you, Gunslingers.
I thought you guys were just being condescending when you said the Hunter class relies more on player skill than class abilities.
I thought you guys were just salty when you said you got shafted in PvE.
Boy oh boy, how wrong I was.
The past few days, I've started to use my Hunter. And I'm starting to see why you guys say the things you do.
I took my Hunter into Crucible, to see if it really was any different. I can honestly say I was surprised.
I quickly learned I couldn't play like I do on my Titan - my grenades had half the potency, and my melee wasn't as generous. I decided that I was going to have to rely on myself and my abilities more than my class and it's abilities.
To be truthful, I think it's making me a smarter, and better player. After around 30 games of Control, I'm pretty satisfied with my performance so far. Go ahead, look for yourself!
But then came the moment. My super was ready. I was prepared to deliver a world of butthurt unto the enemy team which they would remember for years.
I activated my Arc Blade, ran around the corner, got one kill, and got shut down by a pair of shotgun wielding Titans.
That's happened more than a few times, I'm not afraid to admit. Only once so far have I had 5 kills, I'm actually averaging about 1-2 a Super.
You guys weren't joking.
I also had the chance to do a Normal run through the Vault of Glass. There I was: a level 27 Hunter heading to cripple the Vex, armed with some borrowed weapons, a half-decent grenade, and a Super that can only kill a few enemies, and drops even less orbs.
Again, you guys weren't joking.
So again, I apologize. You guys aren't lying or being condescending when you say the things you do, you're just as serious as everyone else in the room.
I know I have but a miniscule amount of play as a Hunter, so I'm certain I'll experience everything the more I use it.
P.S. - I'm sorry for choosing Bladedancer first, I had to see for myself if what you guys were saying was true.
P.P.S. - Any tips for when and how to use Arc Blade in a way that doesn't get me stomped?
TL;DR: Hunters were telling the truth this whole time, and I'm sorry for doubting them.

Minus the supercharge in year 1, hunter still took more raw skill. (As in pure gun play) other classes n subclasses had ALOT of help and not many people realize that. It's just the same argument "blink, can't kill while in super" Okay well...you can barely kill a -blam!-ing hammer or storm trance while in their super and yer were the whiners? I'm not whining right now I'm just stating the obvious

Get familiar with blink and QuickDraw and you should never find yourself at the disadvantage of not having the first shot. Also, if you don't want to get dropped in your super make sure you blink ahead or above your target instead of swiping to them. If you choose to go gunslinger go get yourself an achlyophage and unlock combustion...Pop your super when heavy is about to spawn and push enemy heavy and you should have 4+ kills easy assuming you don't get shutdown before then. Best tip I can offer for a gunslinger is learn how to place tripmines and learn how to throw a throwing knife as these both can substantially raise your survivability and tips the edge in your favor during gunfights or area denial. Also, I noticed that doing a slight jump before someone's going to enter a door really throws off people's aim so try that. Hope I helped! No problem fam Ever since The Taken king the blade dancer is the weakest of sub class choices. I use Gunslinger for PvP and night stalker for PvE and for PvP if i am bored

hm, i find that i play Crucible the best on my hunter, so nimble and fast....arcblade is great, people don't seem to know what to do with it....That said i do enjoy Crucible on my titan if i get to be alone, skirting along the edges...so bulky and slow it's a drag. At least i think Hunters are the easiest Crucible class, i dont get the hang of titan in it. Anyway, i see now that sunbreakers are OP in Crucible....i may not be so good With it as i have found out, but they are damn near invicible when i do Crucible on my hunter....

[b] Finally.[/b] It finally got enough attention for a moderator to reply. I really do thank you for making this and you probably have the support of everyone who's every actually tried a Hunter. I will tell you this. Play as a Hunter for done time till you get really good. Then head back to your main and you will see the significant skill improvement. I'm not saying "If you're not a Hunter the you suck". I'm saying you learn strategies and you start relying less on your subclass. I hope that allot of prior follow your foot steps too.

2 RepliesAs a Hunter...I thank you. I would have recommended starting as a Gunslinger. Bladedancer was mainly for Year 1 Nightfalls and Crota raid. Bladedancer for PvP...I mainly use it to skew the radar with constant invisibility to flank the enemy. The super arc blade kills are just a bonus. Best of luck to you guardian.

If you're getting shutdown after one kill, go back to your "titan ". Because arc blade is one of the most op specials in pvp if used correctly.
