I'm sorry. An open apology to Hunters.

I thought you guys were just being douchebags when you said your Supers took more skill to use. I thought you Bladedancers were just lying through your teeth when you said you could be killed easily. Same goes for you, Gunslingers. I thought you guys were just being condescending when you said the Hunter class relies more on player skill than class abilities. I thought you guys were just salty when you said you got shafted in PvE. Boy oh boy, how wrong I was. The past few days, I've started to use my Hunter. And I'm starting to see why you guys say the things you do. I took my Hunter into Crucible, to see if it really was any different. I can honestly say I was surprised. I quickly learned I couldn't play like I do on my Titan - my grenades had half the potency, and my melee wasn't as generous. I decided that I was going to have to rely on myself and my abilities more than my class and it's abilities. To be truthful, I think it's making me a smarter, and better player. After around 30 games of Control, I'm pretty satisfied with my performance so far. Go ahead, look for yourself! But then came the moment. My super was ready. I was prepared to deliver a world of butthurt unto the enemy team which they would remember for years. I activated my Arc Blade, ran around the corner, got one kill, and got shut down by a pair of shotgun wielding Titans. That's happened more than a few times, I'm not afraid to admit. Only once so far have I had 5 kills, I'm actually averaging about 1-2 a Super. You guys weren't joking. I also had the chance to do a Normal run through the Vault of Glass. There I was: a level 27 Hunter heading to cripple the Vex, armed with some borrowed weapons, a half-decent grenade, and a Super that can only kill a few enemies, and drops even less orbs. Again, you guys weren't joking. So again, I apologize. You guys aren't lying or being condescending when you say the things you do, you're just as serious as everyone else in the room. I know I have but a miniscule amount of play as a Hunter, so I'm certain I'll experience everything the more I use it. P.S. - I'm sorry for choosing Bladedancer first, I had to see for myself if what you guys were saying was true. P.P.S. - Any tips for when and how to use Arc Blade in a way that doesn't get me stomped? TL;DR: Hunters were telling the truth this whole time, and I'm sorry for doubting them.

  • Stay back and use razors edge in raids. Gets decent orbs once you get the hang of it

  • Use razors edge as your supers right trigger attack, people back-peddle when they see arc blade pop, this fixes that ;-)

  • I started out as a warlock. I even had two Locks before starting a Hunter. I deleted that Warlock so I could make a Titan and experience all aspects of gameplay. Now I'm proud to say I main a Hunter. It's the most versatile class in my opinion. I only use Arc blade for the stealth advantages and I love it. I get more satisfaction and a bigger feeling of accomplishment from my Hunter.

  • There's a perk that lets you regenerate health after a blink strike or blade kill

Use blink hungering blade and the perk that boosts your movement speed. You shouldn't really use any of your other arc blade abilities besides the swing. You need to be a ninja with it basically and never give them a straight line of sight.

  • For hunter supers in PvP, your positioning is everything. 1. Consider using hungering blade during crucible. It increases survivability in CQB. 2. Don't dance for chance. It won't recover as quickly as GG, and would be entirely more effective for your team when activated at opportune moments (e.g., enemies chasing, enemies in front and not already shooting you, enemies in transit to different control points, defending a control point...). Of course, determining the right time to super is what makes you a good hunter ;) 3. Consider using Razor's Edge as super ability. Very few enemies expect a long range from a dancer. Although difficult to aim, the edge can pick up multi-kills with skill, and will regain health with hungering blade, or grant more super energy with encore. Combined with third man, the edge can be deadly at range. Again though, positioning is crucial, and the decision to edge any opponent(s) who could dodge will likely get you killed. 4. Consider using backstab as your blink strike ability. The melee will be a OHK from behind. There are few things more satisfying than blinking in behind a confused enemy, and nailing that strike in between the shoulder blades. 5. I prefer arc bolt to flux, since you can damage more than one enemy and clean up with a primary. Flux is more useful for postmortem kills, but who wants to die anyway? Each hunter is unique with their preferences. The class can be built in many ways, generating unpredictability in crucible. You must remain cautious, and execute with extreme prejudice. I like hunters man
