I'm sorry. An open apology to Hunters.

I thought you guys were just being douchebags when you said your Supers took more skill to use. I thought you Bladedancers were just lying through your teeth when you said you could be killed easily. Same goes for you, Gunslingers. I thought you guys were just being condescending when you said the Hunter class relies more on player skill than class abilities. I thought you guys were just salty when you said you got shafted in PvE. Boy oh boy, how wrong I was. The past few days, I've started to use my Hunter. And I'm starting to see why you guys say the things you do. I took my Hunter into Crucible, to see if it really was any different. I can honestly say I was surprised. I quickly learned I couldn't play like I do on my Titan - my grenades had half the potency, and my melee wasn't as generous. I decided that I was going to have to rely on myself and my abilities more than my class and it's abilities. To be truthful, I think it's making me a smarter, and better player. After around 30 games of Control, I'm pretty satisfied with my performance so far. Go ahead, look for yourself! But then came the moment. My super was ready. I was prepared to deliver a world of butthurt unto the enemy team which they would remember for years. I activated my Arc Blade, ran around the corner, got one kill, and got shut down by a pair of shotgun wielding Titans. That's happened more than a few times, I'm not afraid to admit. Only once so far have I had 5 kills, I'm actually averaging about 1-2 a Super. You guys weren't joking. I also had the chance to do a Normal run through the Vault of Glass. There I was: a level 27 Hunter heading to cripple the Vex, armed with some borrowed weapons, a half-decent grenade, and a Super that can only kill a few enemies, and drops even less orbs. Again, you guys weren't joking. So again, I apologize. You guys aren't lying or being condescending when you say the things you do, you're just as serious as everyone else in the room. I know I have but a miniscule amount of play as a Hunter, so I'm certain I'll experience everything the more I use it. P.S. - I'm sorry for choosing Bladedancer first, I had to see for myself if what you guys were saying was true. P.P.S. - Any tips for when and how to use Arc Blade in a way that doesn't get me stomped? TL;DR: Hunters were telling the truth this whole time, and I'm sorry for doubting them.

  • I've played 6k crucible games on a Hunter and 2k games on titan. Hunter is much easier to play than Titan. To be frankly honest. 2,000 crucible games later I still have problems over-extending as a titan. Major issues. Hunter: -Superior melee. The titan melee pales in comparison. Blinkstrike and throwing knife both have range on any titan melee. You don't know how many times I've been vexed by the T-rex arms of a Titan. -Blink. BLINK. So easy to use. It quickly becomes a panic reaction which will hurt you if you ever switch classes as it is a crutch to be completely honest. -Quick draw... Makes things really unfair, let's just say that. Melee + Shot = Always faster than double melee. Bodyshot sniper + Quickswitch + bodyshot = Unfair and OP still. There's so many things wrong with Quickdraw. It should've never been a perk, same for blink. -Arcbolt is probably one of the best grenades imho -Supers are very frustrating. Idk how many times I've been shortstopped on a blade dancer or baby bladed to death. But proper use of blade dancer + blinking combo makes blade better and more reliable. It's not any sunbreaker though Titans: -Terrible melee. T-rex range. -Increased Control is an awesome movement ability, and allows you to fly at extreme rates, although has huge investment. As soon as you start moving a direction, you're locked to that direction to keep momentum. This is a huge issue for overextending and making mistakes. It's a great movement but can get tunnel visioned. -Grenades are good. Fusion grenade(sunbreaker), Magnetic(defender)/ Lightning(striker) grenade among the best 2. -Sunbreaker is probably the best super in the game so I'm not going to argue this one lol you win this one Overall, I could rampage crucible 20-0 on a hunter any day of the week. It's easier to go on long streaks and more difficult to die with panic blinking on your side. Titans need more attention to their surroundings, need to not tunnel vision and ultimately require more disciplined gameplay and strategic thinking, although the super is definitely better for a titan with the addition of sunbreaker.

  • That necrobump! Tldr = plays 30 control games, already can get 5 kills with one super. Nerf sunbreaker!

  • For arcblade (at least in PvP) try to activate it while in the air that way you never stop moving.

  • Use the third person view to your advantage so you don't run into a room full of shotguns or run out and get sniped. Either use your super close enough (but behind cover) to surprise your enemy or in the sweet spot where they can't hear it activate but you can still reach them quickly. Don't spam the swing, more times than not you'll just end up kissing their shotgun barrel. Jump and evade! However you can still clean a control point if you do if you get the drop on them, don't expect to walk away though. If a player jumps, jump with them. Swings don't work well vertically. Arc bolt grenade. Period. Higher/Better jump. Knowing where you'll land 100% of the time is better than disorienting your foe 70% of the time. Plus, I tend to disorient myself some times too. And also the whole nerf thing. Razor's edge, for getting rid of that guy just slightly out of range. Perfect for NLB users. Just be weary, it travels slow. Vanish is decent but you're still pretty visable and I never found a situation where showstopper would be better. Fast Twitch is my preferred. Escape artist won't do you much good if you're still in shotgun range. Backstabbing is a viable option but I'm pretty sure it only counts if it's the back of the head at least that's what I've learned from the bounties. Set training focus to what suits you best. I prefer agility. Fleet Footed/Quick Draw based on play style. Fleet footed for shotguns and quick draw for snipers. Shadow jack is best if you're going full invis (Shadowjack, Escape Artist, Vanish and, Stalker and/or Don't Touch Me) I prefer it in PvE. Hungering Blade. IIRC Encore has a ratio of 4 kills to 1 extra. The health regeneration is preferred because you have to be in melee range to kill which means lots of damage taken. See above for Stalker. That's all I can think of for now. And, thanks for trying the class before blindly bitch in about it.

  • Great Post. I'm glad when people actually use the class for themselves rather than just shoot down any opinions on the issue.

  • Well you know what they say... Those who can handle it, run a hunter. And those who can't, well, they play warlocks. Haha no master race drama just joking. I main'd a warlock since beta but once I switched to a hunter I never looked back. Thank goodness. Everything is more satisfying as a hunter. Welcome to the wild.

      • I mainly use gunslinger, I really only use blade dancer for crota, or other times that I need extended invisibility like mines on Skolas. Nightstalker has it's uses too.

      • It's actually good you started with blade dancer because it has all the invisible perks on it, you can play a support roll by reviving teammates who die in the most stupid spots ever lol
