Note: I use "religious" to mean "believes that God or gods definitely does or must exist. "This is my blanket term for just about every religion in the world, that excludes atheists.
I feel like agnosticism is underrepresented in this polarized forum. I've also noticed that there is a surprising lack of willingness among people on both sides to back up their claims, although it's definitely more noticeable amongst the religious. (See: TidalSurge, Why a Christian Life is simpler than a worldly life)
This is where agnosticism comes in. If you're an agnostic, you don't have to make any claims about God, because both the existence and nonexistence of a god are empirically unprovable. This leaves you free to inspect the claims of others, because you're not busy bearing the burden of proof.
Agnosticism is the view that the existence of God is impossible to be known or proven.Source(It's a religious site, so I don't rely too heavily on it, and neither should you.)
In essence, a religious person says God exists, an atheist argues he doesn't, and the agnostic comments while microwaving some popcorn, or perhaps even comment while eating the popcorn.
So do you think we need to have more agnostics? Fill in the poll with your position, and comment:

2 RepliesSo agnosticism is pretty much the "I don't care" of religion?

'Agnosticism' is really just a knowledge claim that is the admittance that basically "I don't know for certain". A person can be agnostic towards anything really, but lately it's been used to describe one's theologic opinion. It still sounds weird to me when people call themselves 'agnostic' because they're not conveying what they're 'agnostic' about. You'll be far fetched to find an atheist that thinks that there is a 0% chance that there is a god, and they're technically agnostic atheists. There are also agnostic theists, among other things. Apart from all of that, I'ed rather that the CoC changed to resemble its formal self, where religious and political discussions were out of the question. The community had proven that it's not mature enough to hold conversations w/o devolving to ad hominems and slandering most of the time.

I'm agnostic. There simplify isn't enough hard proof that god is fake nor real. I like to think that there is one, but in all reality there might not be one.

I'm white trash and I'm in trouble.
