Useless Nightfall rewards: REMOVE ascendant shards!!!

Message to DeeJ and game Devs: As we all know, the upgrade system from pre-DLC and post-DLC are very different. And I am aware Bungie has responded to community concerns that the armor progression system post-DLC is very broken. Ascendent materials, specifically shards, were rendered nearly useless for players with Guardians level 31-32. Bungie has promised that this will not happen again with the next DLC.. blah blah blah. Here is the issue I am currently very unhappy with: NIGHTFALL STRIKES ARE STILL DISHING OUT USELSS ASCENDENT SHARDS TO HIGH LEVEL GUARDIANS. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE. I am proposing, and hoping I get significant backing from the forum community, that Ascendent Shards be taken out of the Nightfall Loot table completely. The game provides a variety of other ways to gain ascendent shards for those guardians that still need them (Daily, VoG, Public Events, etc.). They are a completely useless Nightfall reward for all the lvl 31s and 32s (who are majority of who plays the Nightfall Strike each week). Radiant materials would be the logical replacement for the Nightfall strike. These are the materials players over lvl 30 actually use. I am not suggesting anything else be changed about the nightfall. I know I am not going to get a sweet exotic each week after completing the Nightfall Strike. The reward system should remain random, with the chance to receive something really cool that you can brag about. But please, remove the total junk that is ascendant shards. Receiving 10-30 shards any given week from Nightfall rewards is ridiculous. Completing the weekly Nightfall should provide a feeling of satisfaction, as it is meant to be the hardest strike of the week. You are only robbing Guardians of that satisfaction by continuing to dish out Ascendant Shards as a reward for some of the more challenging gameplay available. Thanks for Listening.

    Unfortunately Radiant Materials are really no better. My proposed solution would be to guaranteed the drop of an identified weapon/armor. That way you've got a shot at an interesting item/perk combo, but can shard it as needed.

  • As much as it sucks to still be getting shards from NF, the fact that they are still being given to level 31 and 32 players indicates to me that the shards may come back into play with the HoW expansion.

  • New players need them, but here's one very simple solution: They drop only for players not at max level Boom.

    • I think most folks can agree that a good way to solve this problem is for Bungie to implement a vendor (or system) that can convert Ascendant Materials (AM) to Radiant Material(RM) and vice versa (for the folks who need them.) Perhaps a 5:1 ratio when converting AM to RM and a 1:5 ratio from RM to AM? Or a combination of materials + glimmer? I think this feature needs to be added ASAP and both Raiders and Non-Raiders will be able to take advantage of it.

    • The reason they dont get rid of shards and energy is because the new guys who cant find a raid party to run through raids need them to level there gear so the can at least hit 31 quit whining

        • To all the people that said - some of us still need them. Daily? Public events? Vault if glass? That is the way materials are meant to be earned. If you play VOG regularly, you will get 150 materials per week only for runing it on all 3 characters. It takes only a few hours a week to run it and it us way more fun playing raids than anything else.

        • I wouldn't mind so much if there was a way to convert shards to energy... At least with energy you use it ranking up legendaries you want to try out. Shards you use at most 54 every time a dlc drops in order to rank up some temporary armor until you do the new raid, or maybe use it to rank up IB gear... I used to do VoG a lot, but haven't done it in a month or two (well maybe once or twice) and I still have over 400 shards and over 200 energies...

        • Believe it or not, some people still need them... I vote to keep & have an exchange system similar to Eris; as well as adding Radiant Materials to the loot table.

        • Could be better if there were just more uses/conversions for ascendant materials. Long time players have hundreds stacked up and there's just no way to ever use them all.

        • What gets me is the legendary engrams that turn into ascendant materials. I have gotten these consistently for like 3 weeks now. I don't even bother doing the nightfalls anymore. I only do it on my main for the rep and Exp boost because the rewards are just not worth it 99% of the time.

            • My solution have a person in the tower who can take 10 accendent shards and convert it to 1 radiant shard and the same for energies

                Or please make it "Radiant Shards" are also possible, but I am close to start to destroy the Ascendant Shards, because I will NOT keep a second stack of those in my vault!
