9 RepliesIt's an age thing any one who uses that term is more than likely under 18 or even 16 nothing wrong with that just the way the young ones talk
-
I use it, because during my ten years as a WoW addict, that's how we referred to our characters.
-
It's an MMO term that dates back to God knows when. Most players that have played MMO'S before use this term.
-
Makes perfect sense to me.. I use the term toon when I play an mmo that allows me to create, customize and personalize my character. I'm nearing the age 30 and still find the word toon normal for mmo as a gamer..
-
When MMOs were new and exiting thing, people like me used that term. Old habits die hard.

1 ReplyAn old mmo term.

Calling characters toons has been around for over 10 years. I never use the term but don't see a problem with it.

I call them characters but I have used toon before when playing MMO's. Even on a Destiny I use main and alts to refer to my characters. Just different lingo used in MMO's.

Toontown was a game that a bunch of kids played and the characters were called toons so maybe that's it.

Toons... Just sounds dumb.
-
Why do you call it a character? That implies it has mental qualities of a sort all by itself. It should be an avatar or some such term because the player provides any character qualities. It just sounds silly imo.
-
I've only seen one person call characters toons
