So, recently I have decided to join dead orbit, because that black and white doe!!!
Also because their gear can increase my strength and discipline, and that's great for my play style... Yadda yada yada...
Anyway, I saw that Dead Orbits weapons include the shotgun, and the machine gun, but of course, I use a rocket launcher and a fusion rifle.
So I was wondering if making a switch in weapon types like that is good choice, or if one kind of gun has superiority over the other (i.e. Shotgun vs Fusion Rifle).
Thanks guys!

1 ReplyYou shouldn't really be using a shogtun/fusion rifle in the Crucible (excluding one or 2 maps where its marginal), they are for scrubs. Get yourself a decent auto rifle or hand cannon, they are much better for PvP. Also Machine guns overall net you more kills if you are any good and can stay alive with heavy ammo.

1 Replydead orbit has a fusion rifle - final rest II and a rocket launcher - exodus plan? i can't remember think that's it though
-
1 ReplyEdited by G1: 2/4/2015 11:49:07 PMI like the crota fusion rifle and thorn Invective is OP in crucible
-
1 ReplyYou should use dead orbits cross bow it wrecks.
-
4 RepliesThe specials usually relate to the map layout(Pvp) and for Pve I usually run a sniper. For Pvp I always run Corrective Measure(mg) For Pve I usually run rockets
-
3 Repliesblack and white female deer, that's why you joined them? weirdo.
-
3 RepliesRocket launchers are much better. Always. I kick people from raids for not having a rocket launcher
-
3 RepliesThe deviant Gravity is worth the 150 marks! It's got a lot of options :D
-
4 RepliesNone of those weapons are better than the other. It is all about adjusting your play style to the weapons that you have equipped. If you are carrying a shotgun, you are staying close to corners looking for close quarters fights. If you are using a fusion rifle, you are always trying to keep some distance between you and your target. That being said, don't use a pulse rifle in PvP. There are literally 0 situations where it is the ideal weapon.

1 ReplyFusion rifle and machine gun
-
1 ReplyYou should try them all. No weapon is a bad one. Also fusion rifles keep shotguns in check and rockets keep machine guns in check.
-
3 RepliesBoth have perks. I use a rocket launcher in PvE only, not in crucible, usually, Hunger of Crota. Also, I use a fusion rifle in PvE, usually Murmur. I use a machine gun in crucible to stack up the kills per heavy ammo. Now in the crucible, fusion rifle or shotgun is preference. Which one are you better with? I mostly use the shotgun Secret Handshake. Plan C is a beast in the crucible though. It has the stats of my maxed Murmer but more on each stat.
-
1 ReplyI like secret handshake from the vanguard good rate of fire, range and impact it's good for pve and pvp
-
1 Replyit's all situational
-
Don't use fusion rifles in crucible, just don't.
-
7 RepliesIf you play in PvP, then you shouldn't be using a rocket launcher. DO's purchasable weapons aren't that great.
-
1 ReplyGot a nice void fusion from them for a rep up.
-
2 RepliesDead orbit's shotgun is a monster
-
3 Repliesright now, focus more on gear than weapons. if you get good gear the weapons will come from literally everything else. high weps but low gear is a hell of a crutch to pass through
-
Switch both
-
1 ReplyFusion Rifle and Machine Gun for PvP. Done.
-
Shotgun and rocket
-
1 ReplyAnother thing for machine guns. Pick impact over fire rate. Jolders hammer from iron banner is downright the best one out there
-
1 ReplyI personally HATE shotguns. Useless in PvE and downright unfair in crucible. Fusion rifles have good range but can still perform in close quarters. No question there fusions are better Rockets are for PvE only (unless you have GHORN) I tend to get 5 to 6 kills with one heavy ammo drop in crucible with a machine gun. While I only get 1 kill per rocket in crucible unless I get lucky
-
1 ReplySome faction weapons tend to be the best you can buy from vendors. Chance hand cannon from FWC, vanquished 8 auto rifle from NM and the heavy machine gun from DO. In pve, most people prefer rocket launchers. In PvP, most people prefer HMG because you have the potential for more kills. (I personally like truth, but if I had to go non-exotic heavy, I would use a HMG). For shotguns, really only useful in PvP. The only stats I care about for shotguns are range and impact. Everything else is not critical. The major reason to level a faction is for their shaders and xpack day one purchases. Since the previous xpack kept the same weapons, you can have the marks saved to buy one of the new attack on day one and get a leg up on your legendary gear. Everything else you can buy is replaceable.

1 Reply*realized this answer is long so short answer is they are all good in the right instance, switch it up. For the full answer see below* So are you roll playing or something? Serious question because you can get dead orbit armor and keep running a fusion rifle from something else, unless you are wanting to be sporting on one faction. As to what weapons are better... I'm like you in that I prefer fusion rifle over shotgun. I like having some range at the cost of charging my weapon. However, rockets vs machine gun is situational for me. Rockets hit hard in a large area but sometimes that is overkill and there isn't a way to dial it back. Sometimes it's nice to use a machine gun to deal just enough damage to kill a target and not waste more ammo than needed. This is especially true during nightfall with a burn where just a few machine gun rounds go a long way. Also true in pvp a rocket is an instant kill in pvp but you only get a few with each heavy ammo drop. You can get more kills with a machine gun in pvp from an ammo drop because you can use just enough rounds per target.
