I use toon, unless describing a specific character then I usually use the class to identify it (I have 1 of each). Just habit left over from WoW.

They should be called pawn of sick game.

Avatar!
-
No. Just character.

2 RepliesAs a long time mmo player I use toon, main, alts, mobs, adds etc. Its just natural when you have played for all the years I have.

Edited by Potent Armpit: 2/3/2015 1:07:05 PMAfter some careful consideration I've come up with the following choices Going to call my guys either 'cartoonies' or 'pixel fairy's' (male) or pixel dames (female)' Also, magazine is now clip, and so are rounds. 'My clips out! ' 'Need to use some clip protosynsisisis. '

4 RepliesUsed to be toon back on AO. (Anarchy Online). Very old mmorpg. Its just a way to say alternate character.. i sometimes say "alts" and "main". Just mmorpg lingo being used in console context... and do you really care what people call there additional characters?. I bet "adds" annoys most of you too. Heres how to combat the use of these terms: Step 1: Get over it.

Toon sounds more child-like.
-
Stay monosyllabic.

I think it's just the boys with ego problems that have an issue with it. It sounds a little bit "young" for em.
-
Toon or character is what I refer to them as. Guardian sounds silly!
-
Couldn't care less what people call their characters. Nobody should.

I think your over selling it. Never heard of this toon game but back in the day, when we played D&D if you wanted visuals of your character you drew them. I love toon and all you haters arcane at shit.

6 Replies*shiver* No. Toon sounds ridiculous, and it has sounded ridiculous for over 20 years. It's a throwback to an old pen and paper RPG called Toon, from the early 80's, and one of the only acceptable uses of the term since your character was literally a cartoon (toon). It popped up again in the mid 90's circa Diablo and The Realm, then the WoW generation grabbed a hold of the term and tried to "pwn" it, and I think some of the kiddies here associate it with some Disney Toontown (actual cartoons again) game from ~10 years ago. Outside of the kids Disney game, it's always been a good way to pick out the level 30+ basement-dwellers from the rest of us gamers though, so I guess in that sense it still serves its purpose. All in all, it isn't much different than the CoD slang so many here object to... It tells you what kind of gamer you've encountered.

I have always said toon in mmos. Who cares besides cry babies? No one.
-
Sure. Why not?
-
does it really matter?
-
no to toon.......(shudders)
-
I say character.

-
Whichever. It's a game.

People who dislike this word obviously imagine that their own self-worth is embodied in their guardian, and therefore they cannot suffer to have it called anything silly. Kids these days, they reveal so much!

I like toon
